If its not a stupid question why did he not research this sort of thing before he bought the corsa? To be honest the costs aint gunna be cheap even for a minor speck car etc? but good luck to him when it all starts going!
getting in touch with a local motor club might be a really good idea. they will tell you what classes of car they sanction & also let you know what it will be up against.
he's not got his blue book yet 'cause theres a new one due out. what rally events does he want to enter?
ste
he has hes entering it in a series called ralyfirst its for virtually unmodified cars u can have any exhaust and filter you like you can mod the handbrake and fit any brake pads but it doesnt say if you can fit larger brake discs etc and he wanted to know about porting the inlet manifold
hes also thinking of going into a differentseries instead which is for group n cars but the info on building a grp n car comes in the blue book which he still hasnt recieved he was just wondering if any one knew if the info was available online
ive looked a bit but cant seem to find anything

PM me a contact number or ask for mine and I will try and answer what I can for you - I am building a new corsa for the BTRDA championship for next season - also PM redray on here as he is competing on this years championship.

If he's serious about rallying it, then maybe the £60 book isn't too bad an outlay to ensure it meets the regs?! Although the price does suck

Apply for the MSA License he will need and the book comes free
Vauxhall never homologated the Corsa for group N so you would need a sump guard, uprated shocks and brakes as a minimum.
If he wants to go stage rallying then you can not just apply for a licence. You have to go to a rally school and pass a BARS test which is both practical and physical. This will cost at least a couple of hundred pounds. This is to stop any idiots watching the Rally GB and thinking they can beat Seb Loeb and having a massive accident.
Tell him to join a local motor club and compete on 12 car rallies first and then road rallies. You can then work up to stage rallies if you have the money.

really good advice here!!!
the BARS test is around £400 at silverstone school... that includes some mandatory training... talk to your local motorclub mate! they will be a fountain of knowledge!:thumb:
