View Full Version : 4 channels into 1?
Right i got a Jensen 4 channel amp, which is bridgable into 2 channels. What would happen if i then bridged those 2 bridged channels into a sub. Would the power be the same as a single bridged channel, or would it double, therefore bridging the 4 channels into 1.

i would have thought that it would be the same because don't amps power lower fort he more channels that are used ie 1*400 2*200 etc etc If thats the case then i would imagine it would make no difference.
It wouldnt work very well and would die quicker! Its just like running an amp at 2ohms when it is made to run at 4!
Usually if an amp is bridged into fewer channels, the power actually rises!
eg 4x 50rms will be 2x150rms in some cases! Depends on manufacturer.
in all cases if you lower/bridge the channels you will get almost double the power but if you bridge a 4 ch amp into 2 ch and then the 2 into 1 ch then i would have thought it would put too much strain on the amp and you will blow something, i would consult an ice specialist, try
