SteL, Ade, Trackdaynova to name a few. PM them chap.

I use a Kodak Z612, very good at what it does, has lasted 3 years now without fail, only 6.1mpx but takes fantastic pics. Paid miniscule £125 new for it when its RRP was over £300

if your planning on keeping it or getting really into it along the line, i would stay away from sonys and kodaks,

i would go for canons or nikons due to the vast amount of lenses and accessories available compared to the others,

canon and nikon both make great entry level dslr's so its personal prefference and price of which you want, but i would deffinately stick to those 2.

most dslr's will have continous shooting, as for how many frames per second im not sure, mines is something like 3.5fps which i find adequate for what i need, but you can get more,

try a canon 450d or 1000d, with them you usually get a 18-55mm lens which will get you rolling, then over time look at other lenses with bigger focal lenghts and lower aperature capabilities,

im not sure what the nikon cameras are maybe a d60 or that might be the expensive one.

i use a nikon d50, DSLR

cant fault it, does take quick pics, but im not sure about 4-5 a second, i know you can play with the speeds, but not sure if its that quick lol.

i paid about 130 GBP for mine i think of ebay. with the standard lense.

D50 = 2.5fps burst

The Nikon D50 is 2.5fps. (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond50/page2.asp)

The Canon 40D (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos40d/) (such as Ade and myself use) will do 6.5fps, and will fit into your budget, just.

Remember that you're not so much buying a camera, as buying into a system. Nikon has the high end stuff sewn up right now, but its easier to buy into Canon in my opinion. Nikon has DX (crop) and FX (full frame) fit lenses, some lenses will autofocus on some bodies and other silly rules to remember. Canon EF-S (crop) and EF (full frame) lenses will all autofocus, and a crop body like the 40D can use all of them. Also when it comes to buying more expensive lenses, Canon has gems like the 55-250mm IS, the 70-200 F4 L and so forth. But, I am biased :d

Get yourself on talkphotography.co.uk to do some research ;).

Steve, ive found you can get shed loads of lenses & extra parts for Kodaks TBH.

God knows what mine is FPS tho, never really looked into or needed to do photography like that, i only bought it as sh1tty point & shoot cams were circa £90 at the time, so for a few extra £10s was well worth it.

yeah that canon d50 is something i will look out for, im not too worried about optional lenses and that yet, it all seems a bit confusing,
thanks for the info

Eh, D50 is a Nikon model, canon do it the other way around.

Argos and Currys would be awful. Try a London Camera Exchange branch, or online via warehouseexpress or a member called Kerso on talkphotography.

The 40D has just been continued, and you'd have to buy one second hand to be within your price range, but its well worth it. To put things in perspective, here's its replacement. (http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-canon-eos-50d-digital-slr-and-17-85mm-is-lens/p1028040)

Jessops staff have a tendancy to be useless, and their prices tend to be on the high side.

I found price wise they are getting very good. And will price match anything local. ^^

It might also be worth joining quidco, I bought my 450d via them from Pixmania and got £42 cashback - as well as the £50 Canon were offering at the time, end price was £329 for a brand new 450d kit which had only just been released. Happy days :d

ive got a 450d canon also and there will be more than enough on there for you tbh, think the 40d is a bit much.

right ok, being doing a bit of looking and in currys i can get a nikon d3000 with 18-55mm lens, 4gb sd card, atlus camera bag and 3 years warranty cover for £495, if i was to buy the camera alone in the south its about 550-600 euro in the south, what do you guys think first is it a good camera and secondly what about the price

paddy138

his mate has a d40 and just said to try amazon, there reasonable enough on amazon, but there is no insurance or anything, i think i might just get the d3000 in currys and get the insurance and the whole lot, at least if anything goes wrong i can bring it back, and its not that bad price wise either
