clifford alarm

sorry i have a bit of a stupid question!
i have a clifford alarm....already installed on my car when i brought it
it has the little red LED and then theres a black switch with two rubber buttons on it... what are the black switches actually used for?

Its the valet switch. Its how you setup/program the alarm (change number of chirps etc etc)
