Right its nearly pay day. I have my twin 40s and inlet manifold and I'm in need of some advice of which cam to get. I cant find much info on the topic (yes - I've used the search function). So has anyone had any previous experience with an E16SE with twin 40 webers and schrick/piper/kent cam?

I was going to go with the schrick as it has a cool name! Can anyone point me in the right direction to a website showing me how they work as I think I need to read up a bit more.

Cheers in advance :thumb:

Dan's old 1.6 used a Kent AST2 cam if I remember correctly.

Will probably depend what you want the car for to an extent. Do you want something nice an driveable as a daily driver sort of thing, or do you want a high revving track car?

I ran the AST2 in a 1.3 on twin 40s and it was very driveable with a good midrange, but I tuned the carbs to give a good midrange also, they worked well together.

Ast 1 is mild
Ast 2 is for a pretty stock engine with headwork or carbs/bodies etc
Ast3 is a rull blown rally slag cam, 9000rpm, loads of grunt, but you have to keep it above 4k for any go!

The one in red is the one I had when running bikecarbs on my 1.4sr, it was better than the kent cam I had before which was a AST1.

id go with newman cams fast road cam. does what it says on the tin so to speak, and a few of us who use newman are very pleased with them compared to others

Thanks for the info guys. Its a daily driver so I don't want anything too extreme but then again I don't want to spend £200 odd quid on something thats not going to make much difference. The AST2 seems like the one to go for, or the piper/newmen equivilent.

Whats the score with the vernier pully, will I need one? i understand you can make small changes to the timing? Can anyone shed some light.
