Well about a month ago i ordered 15" oz wheels from halford and was assured that they would be a 47 offset. today i got a phone call saying they were there (four weeks late) and supprise they were in a 35 offset, now i was pissed off coz i was assured that they would 47 which would fit on fine. i then told them that having an offset like that would screw up the handeling they told me it wouldn't . what should i do, ask for my money back coz they have made an error on there part because they seemed reluctent to give it back even though it was there fault opinions pleaseI tried fitting them and they didnt fit either i needed the whole arch taken off!!!

(ben u were rite about the offset mate)

They sold you the wheels under false pretences, it is basucally the same as selling you 5 stud wheels, if they dont fit there no good. Just because the bolts are the right allignment dosent mean they fit.

Get your money back.

No you havent done anything wrong, they are at fault. If you search through the web you will find some correct fitting wheels a lot cheaper than Halfords can do them.

Get your money back. Not only will they affect your handling (although I've been told that with the correct setup et38 wheels can actually give you better cornering) you will get massive problems with the wheels catching your arches.

HI,

well instead of getting angry and posting here, why doesnt he make constructive comments reference the service to the store manager on duty?

I made the point reference the time as, being in retail, you are very much at the mercy of the supplier. whatever information you are given by the wholesaler (in this case MotorSport Wheels), you then have to pass on in good faith.

Cheers

maybe because he wants others to know of the terrible service he received and to act as a warning to others.

Halfords in Gloucester are quite good but you need to talk to George or Mark in the Ripspeed shirts as they actually know what they're talking about...

HI,

point well put ian, however, i make the point that all complaints are best dealt with while the issue is "fresh". SOme people leave complaints far to long for anything to be done effectively. the counter argument being that if there was such a major issue then why wasnt something said sooner.

Jatinder - Go to the store, ask for the duty manager. Explain to him the situation, what the member of staff said to you at the time of inital purchase reference the offset. Then explain you have had to wait longer than initally promised, the wheels are different to what you were initally promised, and that you are distinctly unhappy. At tempting as it is to be insulting, i strongly urge you not to be as it will get you nowhere (apart from making you feel better breifly..) State what you want (i.e exchange for different wheels/ refund/whatever) Say also you would like a small compensatory gesture for wasted time/petrol. If that gets you nowhere then ask for the telephone number of customer services and get onto them.

Cheers

Phil

i dont know why people still buy from halfords anyway, u can get parts quicker and cheaper elsewhere.

m8 - at the end of the day you ordered a set of alloys for a vauxhall nova - et 45-49.

As this is not what yuy got then you can get your money back (non of this credit note bollox either).

They did not give you wot you asked for and thats the end of it.

If they refuse demand to speak with the manager - failing that go to trading standards!

Theyre not exactly cherap and if theyre the wrog et (it'll be tattooed on the alloy) you could also say that they are selling you a potentially dangeroous product (wheels rub, melt, burst, death!)

Dont takle shite man - take em back and demand money back.

i cant stand halfords, i'd go other places for my stuff. ill give credit to em if they ever did anything right. i dont like using big companies like that coz they have to pay for all the stores ect some how and it seems to come out in their prices.

But they are good for little bits for car, just not alloys or specialist parts.

Halfords are crap, even the Ripspeed ones. they never do what they say they are going to do. the price match service it crap because they only match store prices (not mail order adverts) and they only price match on the things that they've actually got in stock!

Just avoid them if you can.

Singh bruv, I know what u mean about Halfords!

Halfords are the biggest bunch of cowboys I've ever seen! They shouldn't have permission to sell car modification gear! They can't even follow simple orders from their customers.
About a month back, I went there and ordered a Magnex backbox for my 1992 1.4 SRi, and what did they order me.....? ta da! A backbox for a 89/90 SR. When I went to collect it I told them "experts", they had given me the wrong exhaust from the one I ordered. They claimed it doesn't matter and it will fit fine.

So away I went and when the mechanic tried fitting it he told me I have wrong backbox on here. Anyway he fitted it as well as he could and when I went to Charlie browns to get the rubber on the exhaust fitted, they too told me I've got the wrong exhaust fitted on here and its not gonna fit.

Then I went back to Halfords, told them and at least they admitted to their mistakes though the prat who put the order through wasn't there.

Anyway I had to go to all the trouble of getting the exhaust removed and having a new one refitted.

I say don't buy anything to do with Mods from Halfords, they haven't got a clue. Give them a few years, there still new when it comes 2 selling this gear 2.

Ive just been there they said the need to get the car on a ramp as they need to see if the wheels will fit they dont sound like they want to give my money back. The other thing is I signed an agreement saying that some body modifications will be required, but they seem to think now that it is my fault not the sales person, as he didnt know what he was talking about.
