but a couple are right sheds..

I'm guessing that's why he is selling as a job lot - thinks he will get more money that way, as they are probably worth very little individually!!

Will probably come over to this side of the water though and be sold again for twice as much!!!!lol

Yeah, some look French. As said though, easy conversion to RHD. The guy's mad selling them all as one lot. I'd list them all seperately. More money to be made and you know for a fact you will get buyers as they're all 2 doors, unlike at present. lol

Couple of them look like pears, but some of them do actually look alright, so chances are you'd get a little out of the shoddy ones (thinking low hundreds here for some of them lol) but the decent ones will sell very well being mk2 escorts.

I bet there split up by that dude, wouldnt suprise me if even after 10 attempts of selling them as a complete set he cant shift them.

not worth that money,
for a pair of wings you are talking £300 each 5 of the cars need them
Have to re register them in the uk which isnt cheap
Convert them to RHD if they are used for rallying
Theres no pictures of the underneath...
They have been relisted 3 times already and no one has bought them
They will be standard 1100 1300 Gl you can buy a basic mk1 2 door with a 1100 in it for around £2500

Not worth it even to break them

MK999
19-10-09, 09:59 PM
meh mk 2, mk 1, all too expensive for standard frauds lol

The chap runs Nurburg trips, makes sense now!!

I bet hes bought them all purely as an investment...by cheap abroad whilst your over there, get em back to the UK & re-sell them for 3 times the price.

Cant fault him at all really, ive done the same just not with cars lol

They do look WA|\|K with the square headlights however!

FYI the rarest model of Mk1 also came with square lights (the Twin Cam) although when it was rallied most converted over to round lights as the squares where about as good as a wet candle

out of all that lot the Blue '68 car (you can tell its an early car by the bonnet release in the grille) would do me!

But the money you have to spend to prep one properly would soon diminish any profit margins!!!lol

I knew that about the twin cam. Still doesn't look half as good as the round Sport? head lamps though IMO.

I know a preparation company that would rebuild each one of them into group 4 bda monsters and they would sell for between £70,000 & £100,000 each. They have a waiting list for built cars and have suplied people like jimmy mcrae, higgins, waldegard etc. so £23k for 9 cars, a year or so of work and a return of around £800,000 aint a bad little earner!!

Do the math and work it out, it is not worth it.
I've had more mk1 and mk2 escorts through my hands than people have hot dinners

Im also suprised no irish have snapped them up ( or " borrowed " them )
They are poverty spec 1.3 escorts, the engine are worth £50 i have 4 in my backgarden, they all need mass of welding by the looks of things, thres nothing on them atall.
Sure you can put £10k towards one and have a nice one but for all the time and effort you wont even make a few hundread on them especially with the ammount of money he wants
The only people who will buy them will be a rally specialst team who alreayd has all the gear to convert everything.
To register one in the uk it cost £1800 that was with new vin plates all legal rregistration costs etc if you do the math properly you could actually lose money.

Edit - MattBrown, if you know people with 30+ logbooks how come they dont sell them at the peak rate of £1500 each logbook.

I have 4 but i'm waiting until march to sell them

next cars to watch and buy if you can get one ( mk1 fiesta's )
They will be doing silly money in 3 years

Good news for my mates Vulcan Engineering 1750 crossflow then, and also me, been hanging on to a mk1 xr2 log book for ages now, comes with an awesome plate too. Sold my last V5 for only £150. As you say, they should bring much more! Can still pick the cars up for buttons too.

maths mate, its maths, nothing personal, Americanisms just really do my head in, the spell and grammar checker would have picked it up but it can only be set to English (US) i wont get started on that,

anyway, id love a mk1 escort!!! big willy style! but i know nothing about them, do people recon they will sell?? or will he just end up relisting them?

Markd89

They have been relisted 3 maybe 4 times already

whats a mexico logbook??

if thats the case why wouldnt he have just sold them to the guy who offered 20k! he should just prep them himself, it seems the way to go

Mike B GTE
21-10-09, 02:58 PM
not one of them looks like its worth more than £500!! £20K??? beat it!

they will be re-listed time and time again, surely nobody is stupid enough to pay £20K+ for nine crusty old Fords?

maybe if any of them had been worth saving, i.e been RS's then i could perhaps see the attraction.

Mexico is a model of mk1 escort! Well sort after if you have a genuine type49 shell!

Also, why sell the logbooks?

Are they making anymore of them??

rallycraig

The ad says most of them are 'gcat' shells, so they are strengthened as per rs/mexico spec.

TBH you can get a group A shell built for £10k, so theres no point buying these, unless you have 9 sets of rhd stuff, 9 logbooks, and will take the risk of a rimming for ringing 9 cars!

doesnt make any of them any more desirable, especially in the condition they are in.

So you can get any old 3 door shell, give it a Mexico book, VIN & plates an hey presto, you have a fake yet genuine Mexico shell!!

Same as SR logbook/VIN for S1400 cars & GSi logbooks/VIN for S1600. I got £100 for mine :)

There not worth £23k in that state no BUT regardless of that IMO its still a bargain for the potential return you could quite easily make!!!

The chap i passed the auction number onto offered him £20k an pick up the next day, seller declined lol
