Bumper reinforcment bar

Went to fit my mk1 front bumper tonight. Done everything I should have, well so I thought.

The 2 l shaped brackets bolted on fine, with two tags pointing inwards. Went to place the bumper on and The bracket holes are nowhere near where the bolts come through the bumper bar.

Point is do the brackets that bolt to the body differ from mk1 to mk2? Same goes with the reinforment bar?

The L brackets on a mk2 are longer iirc. But the holes are the same, and the bar is the same.

I bet somthing is bent.

That's the thing mate, bonnet,wings,lights eveything fits mm perfect.
Bumper bar isn't bent and fits the bumper perfectly. It's mk2 L brackets I have but didn't think there was any difference in them, obviously the mk1 brackets are longer on the face that attaches to the bumper bar.

Does anyone have a picture of a mk1 L bracket?

They look the same but the mk2 ones are longer
