View Full Version : Cav GSI 4X4
Hi guys
Depending on my driving license wether i keep it or not. I am looking into a cav gsi 4x4 as i have always really liked them. Although i have never been in/driven one. Ive had a saxo, a 95 corsa GSI and currently got my 1990 nova GTE. i know theres alot of vauxhall heads in here that are into there cavs and so on, so just wanted to ask.
Any pro's/cons of owning a cav ?
Things to beware of?
Any generaly good/bad info on them.
Thanks alot guys.

rust is the major one on the sills and rear arches under the kit.
Cons:
Every skally an his dog will try an knick it
High insurance as there the ultimate ram raiders favourite car
the GM 4x4 drivetrain is pap
9 outta 10 4x4s have funked transfer boxs
There a pain to park in small Tesco forecourts
There a joy riders favourite
Fuel hungry
Rust as bad a novas under the kit
Novas are better for stealing parking meters
Pros:
Boot is big enough to dispose of dead bodies
Ideal for ram raiding
Loads of room for back seat antics with the ladies

got done a while back waiting for a court summons.

No offence, but wouldnt it be wise to see what happens. If you cant insure a shopping trolley, a Cav will be a challenge!
I had a normal 2wd GSi. Liked it, but as said rot can be an issue. Engines not really a problem, spares easy to get hold of.

The flippy down arm rest in the back more then makes up for that tho!

im 19 i pay £700 on my gte was paying 890 on my corsa gsi when i was 18. as im on my dads work policy (10+ vans, public liabilty, employer liability, property insurance, equipment etc its a very big policy) he spoke to his representative and he says he should be able to sort something out as my dad is a highly valued customer so hopefully fingers crossed and im damned lucky to have a dad to help me so much.

In all fairness if your looking at cav GSi's youre best off looking for a 2000, not a 2000 4x4, as theyre rarer these days and are coming up in price whereas you can still source GSi 2x4's fairly cheaply:thumb:

Cabstar style pickup?
There are the most unconfortable vans in the world. Sitting above the engine the cab vibrates like funk.
19 and after a 4x4 cav gsi :O
you are one lucky lad if you get one
