Stick with 45's anything bigger on a standard setup will end up with over fuelling and you'll end up rejetting to smaller jets anyway, which is defeating the object of the bigger carbs.

40's = same peak power but more torque down the bottom end.
45's = pretty much normally used carbs on 200bhp builds (if the person goes for carbs that is)
48/50 = HUGE monies, so not done unless in motorsport
