what happened was the cable stretched and the bonnet wouldnt shut properly so with it being the day befor the mot i shortened it but cut it a bit to short and now everytime i open it it pulls the spring out of place so it wont shut again:p stupid off me i no! it acctualy runs out monday and the garage is doing the wheel bearing and brake hose because i havnt got time with work and doing other stuff to the car. only trouble is ive not got another cable so was thinking about trying a corsa one:confused:

erm...you didn't think to adjust the cable instead of cutting it? lol

erm...you didn't think to adjust the cable instead of cutting it? lol
yes but how can you do that its not got an ajuster on it just a cable with 2 fixed nipples either end:confused:
There is a clamp on the inside of the slam panel, held on by a cross head screw, slacken this and movem the outer cable back, it tensions the inner cable and pulls it tight!

Where its held onto the front panel with a piece of metal and a screw, loosen it, if you pull it away from the catch, it will make it tighter, move it closer to the latch and it makes it slacker
mine was fine, thanks for asking

kool didnt no that was an ajuster might be able to slaken it a little bit then nice one
I havnt had a car fail for years
Tbh i know other people will say it, why didnt you check things like the wheel bearings and brake pipes, after all it only requires a jack and a few mins. Saves a lot of hassle :) Maybe somthing to think about next year :)

the ONLY thing a car should fail on is, RUST when the tester attacks it with a hammer lol
anything else and its the owner being lazy

Just bought my nova 1.2 its been sat for two years in a unit and i collected it without even starting it because it had no battery, i put a battery on an it fired straight up so went for its test, it failed on.
Horn not load enough
Side repeater bulb not orange enough(clear lenses)
Small hole size of 5p needing patching up
1 day later sent for retest and now its got 12 months ticket

il let you know in the next week or two how much mine fails lol im guessing 2 pages even though i am doing a checklist and everything 'should' be fine.

As long as you explain to the tester how to open it you should be OK.

Aslong as both locks activated it will be fine
i think it was nwnwnwnwnwnw that decided his bonnet cable needed adjusting..and thought he'd cut it or something? then found his bonnet wouldn't go on the cable pull latch thing and got a fail on that (along with other stuff)
It had a cheesy air horn so just put the standard vaux item back on :thumb:
