Would have done a poll but i cant :(

I know its not a big step up but my ski is only a 1 litre but i want a little bit more out of it.
but i cant go up too much as its alot of money to insure it at my age.

I have a 1.2 engine, im just woundering whether to fit it or not?

Let me know.

Pete.

you should be able to get insured on a 1.3 for not a lot more, a 1300 would be better than a 1200 any day

CLEARLY GAY!

Get a 1.0, mine made 46.5bhp on the rollers!

They go quite well for what they are, there crap on fuel, and if you abuse them too hard, then youll snap valves like I did:thumb:

There awesome, but a 1200 is no quicker, so I wouldnt bother!!!

But Matt, you're forgetting a 1.2 is clearly more tuneable than the 1.0! if you have a 1.2 i's fit it and tune it mildly. Will be more reliable than caning the tits of the 1.0!

But canning the tits of it is FTMFW!

I love my 1.0 compared to cooltigers 1.2, theres something about them thats like awarm place in my heart:P

Hmm cooltigger has a 1.2 spi does he not? In which case spi's are clearly gay!
Only fit the 1.2 if it's carb fed. Is it an st?

Fitting a 1300 carb+inlet, exhaust manifold and downpipe to the standard 1200 engine+silencers will free up a lot of the ponies that stand between the 1200 and 1300. For the cost involved in an engine swap though, get quotes for the 1300carb, 1400+1600mpi and weigh them up that way. It may be no more expensive to fit a 1600 than a 12/1300.

im also going to stay stick to the 1L mate there great fun lol

Mines an animal ha ha lol

Just hold back a year or more and then think about swapping the engine when you will be able to insure it easily

Just wait a couple of years untill your old enough to handle more power and go for a 1.6 or somthing. Plus in that time you should knock up some ncb.

Like i say i have a 1200 engine already, im not 100& sure about it all, so dont bother asking, its at a mates garage being cleaned up.

in a couple of years time i want to go to a 2ltr.
which is what id prefer,

or just keep to your 1l be happy with it, drive it, enjoy it, and then in a few years xe it

also in the few years, make your nova solid, if it isnt already. build up NCB as mentioned and build an XE if you have the space.

1.2 carb anyday over the 1.0. 55bhp standard (when they first came out lol) driven normally won't break the bank in terms of fuel I normally got 42 - 45mpg on a regualr basis. They like to rev and Im sure it's a couple secs off the 0-60 off a 1.0

Put it this way, I drove a Yaris 1.0 16v vvti and a 1.4 16v (2006) Polo for a few months a while back. When I went back to the Nova and drove it I couldn't believe the difference. The 1.2 carb seriously felt more lively to drive. Now I'm only comparing little engines but still the difference was there and even my bro felt the dfference.

I now drive that same Yaris whilst the Nova is in hospital. I really do wish I was driving her.

If you have the engine already then it's an easy choice just check your insurance costs first and be sure its gonna be ok.

Does that take into account an engine swap though?

TBH, choosing between any engine 1.0-1.4 is like saying would you rather be eaten by a shark or a crocodile? There really isn't going to be THAT much difference between them, and the additional cost of insurance you may as well save for a future swap with a decent engine.

The other option would be to buy a Nova with a 1.2-1.4 already in it, which would work out cheaper to insure.

1.2 ftw. Mines been abused and unloved for a very long time and still made a very healthy 58.5 bhp on the rollers last weekend. It's even made me think is it. Worth dropping my 1.3 in lol

As above i had a 1200 in my old black nova, fitted a 1400 SR inlet, carb, exhaust manifold and system, didnt realise on the port differences back then, she ran a bit rough up to about 30 mph but after that she was a little screamer, used to take down all the local 1400's (including the lazer blue one that keeps coming back up for sale) and my mates old 1.6 16v 306 too lol

The 1.2i's arent that bad there not very tuneable though mine made 71.5bhp on the rollers but mines got 1.6cam, 1.8throttle body, 1.6inlet, 1.4injector, 4branch and decat, inlet and exhaust port ported and polished.:thumb:

My last Nova started off as a 1.0 OHV, they do take some abuse but im driving a 1.2 carb at the moment (12nv), and theres a noticeable difference. My 1200 is standard apart from a 4 branch and gte ashley system. While its not quick, its still good enough for a 1.2 8v, they can rev! Needs a cam/different carb though as they lean off a the top end of the revs...... I have a 16SV cam/carb etc here I hope to fit maybe next weekend
