Attention race/rally guys!

I would really appreciate any info you guys can give me.
I compete in a low budget race class with a nova,my spec only allows me to run small block 8v engines.

I have experimented with several engines and combinations over the years.
I would like to build a high compression engine either 1.6 or 1.8.

Can anyone tell me is it possible to run a 8v head, ie a 14se head on a x18xe1 small block or z18xe?

Would I be right to assume I can run a 8v head on a 16xe block ok?

No, a 8v head will bolt up to a 16v block afaik.

the blocks are basically identicle.

the only thing you might struggle with is piston/valve clearence

Yer, hence the reason i said it would bolt up, oil and water ways are the same iirc.

Cant see the point in using a 16v block to myself?

its alot easier to get hold of 16v's now and ive heard the cranks are better than the earlier 8v ones
