How easy is a Nova back beam to twist slightly due to jacking it up ?
My drivers back wheel is sitting normal but the passenger wheel sits like ( / )
I reckon the beam has a twist in it due to being jacked up but I'm not too sure
Anyone any ideas ?
I have a spare beam there incase I need to change it like
Cheers in advance;
Vaughan :)
If its bent its due to serious terminal rot mate.Or its slid into the kerb?

Nope the back beam is solid, no rot on it that I know of
Not hit any kerbs or that either, drive miles away from them...

you see if your cars wernt that rotten you could of jacked it up off the proper sill jacking place and not off the beam ;)

Not too keen on jacking it up on the sill - I'd never do it with any car
Looks horrendous as well once your by lol...

could it be a duff shock? it may sound stupid but is the ground level? ive thought ive had broken springs in a few occasins with the car sitting in rough ground. could even be a duff wheel bearing. it wouldnt take much for it to be a wee bit out.

Could be a duff shock aye, as there clunking like mad due to it being too low
Not sure about the bearings as they've not long been done

Will do mate, could that be causing the wheel to push out at the bottom or sit like / ?
General Baxter

Nope lol Not into that Euro/Ghetto stuff

Yes it probably would make it sit like /
It wont be pushed out the bottom, that would be serious damage lol

Found out what the problem is...
Round about where the spring sits on the back beam has cracked
No idea what's caused it as I've not hit anything with the car but maybe it's too low/stiff ?
Here's the best picture I could get to show the damage:

Got a replacement back beam there from another Nova that I scrapped recently so I'm sorted
I hope this cures the problem
It's been a gradual thing this I don't think it's happened over night
Cheers, Vaughan
Must have taken a hard whack or just be rotten from inside mate
its a solid axle hence the word beam you could take the shocks of i wouldnt make any difference they dont hold the wheel in any way. some thing must be bent or a collapsed bearing
I was gonna say you will not bend a beam jacking it up. Thats the best place to jack it up.

I always jack it up on the beam anyway - Usually the middle...Very rarely the corners...
Anyway, new beam is fitted and the wheels line-up much better
Just need to get the brakes seen to and I'll be good to go out for a test run
Going to stick the 15" Irmscher wheels back on and run it with the 3mm wheel-spacers still as it never rubbed once with them fitted before the beam went up s*it creek!
Cheers for the help everyone :thumb:
Brakes seen too? Glad you've sorted it.
