I am looking into buying this, Safety Devices roll cage, just a few questions some of you may be able to help with...
Will the front legs foul the dash, ie will the dash have to be cut at all? Still use the heaters?
I want to run normal seat belts rather that harnesses, will the middle legs fail on the seat belts on the B pillar trims?
Any other Pro's and Con's you know of would be most helpful :thumb:

From the shape of the front legs it looks like it should clear the dash. Hard to say without trial fitting whether you can get away with a standard seatbelt mount on the B pillar, but IIRC my SD cage does sit far back enough to clear one.

Here is a pic with my SD half cage,
Doubt you'll have enough space to run normal selt belts
hope this helps ???

Yeah I think the front legs should clear the dash by looking at the feet, looks like it will sit on the flat surface. Anyone got one of these they can help me with? Pics if possible :thumb:

Will be a tight fit with the b-pillar seatbelt mount

That first picture looks like the seat belt will go on easy enough but just have to lose the trim. Not too fussed about that. Its also an everyday car so dont want harnesses :)
Thanks for the pics, keep them coming :thumb:

as you can see mine just fits with the dash in. you should be able to use standard seat belts but they wont be able to return on there own you have to feed them back
Here's my SD cage, looks like you should get a seatbelt mount on easy!

I had mine fitted with the full standard interior.

Thats what i planned on doing, but looking at the first pic the middle diagonal is in the way, or is that removable?
SD cages have a fixed diagonal.
SD cages have a fixed diagonal.
Mine didn't.
The cage fits with original seatbelts, as said ill measure the distances between the feet to see about dash clearence
The diagonal can be removed - with a grinder lol
Mine didn't.
Weird
Mine does, Iainels does, pretty sure Paul's does too.
The one in the first pic has an unusual diagonal anyway - it goes down to the B pillar foot instead of the rear arch mount.

What about sun visors? Can they still be used?
Cant on mine
You could probably cable tie them to the windscreen bar

You can still bolt to the seat belt to the b pillar in my rally car which has a SD cage fitted, but i think the bottom chrome thingy which holds the belt, will fowl on where the cage bolts to the floor:confused:
Yup it does /\
Pretty sure the cage leg blocks the hole that the chrome thing sits in....
Maybe wrong tho as ive never run seatbelts with a full cage.

Probably got more chance of staying in a seat without that in anyway, seatbelt might snag on something that's actually substantial enough to take weight lol
Seems a bit pointless having std seats and belts and a full cage anyway imo.
All or nothing

All or nothing
worst one is harness in standard seats and no cage imo, looks ridiculous! In novas anyway, can kinda understand in something that has bucket style recliners like the new corsa vxr etc.

F**K! Didnt think about the metal bracket part of the seat belt at the bottom.
Suppose the rear seats wont go in looking at this pic lol

Rear seats will go in :) when i fitted SD cage in a mk2 nova i had to take vents out and cut abit of the dash, but fitted in tight to the dash in the mk1 :D bobminda if your planning to compete you will need to re do the mount for B pillar legs and weld plates to floor for the other legs.

Right, I've got the cage now and the problems I thought of first are nothing to what I have now
Got the rear part of the cage in, nice snug fit up against the headlining, but trying to get the front legs in is somewhat impossible. By the looks of it its the same cage as Deanwilko's, can't seem to get the angle on the front legs to 'wrap' it around the rear section to bolt it in, it fouls on the dash, the bolt holes sort-of line up but can't get it around the back of the rear part of the cage (if that makes sense).
Also the centre diagnal (sp) is not factory fitted.
You cannot use the bottom standard seat belt chrome bar either.
Can anyone shed any light, was thinking of cutting half an inch out of the front legs just to bring them a slight bit further away from the dash :tard:
Thanks :thumb:

How do you mean? It is pushed as far as it will go towards the back of the car, do you mean sits an inch inwards? The centre diagnal might be pushing the legs outwards..... have you got any pics mate?

Remove the dash and try and fit the front legs. I think you need to hook it behind the main hoop and twist/slide it towards the edge of the car to get it in to position.

How the hell did you get that in there!!!!
Mine is right up against the 'rear seat' part and still wont go in.
Have you got any other pics to hand
EDIT: Ive only just got the dash back in don't fancy taking it back out so soon if I can help it

Some clear pics of the b pillar feet like the one you just put up and some of where the front legs sit, also windscreen bar and detailed pics of where the front legs bolt to the rear part. Quite a few pics :)
Did you have the dash out when you fitted yours?
I would rep you but don't know how or know if I even can :thumb:
Cheers mate would be a great help :thumb:
Your rear diagonal is different to mine but assuming the rest is farely similar.
