I had to change my cv joint on my car a 89 gte so went and got a new one, took the old one off not thinking of looking at the new one to see if they are the same. Put it all back together, go to pull away have no drive at all! so took the new one off again and its slightly different on the inside has less teeth than the old one. so i took it back along with the old one and am told the old one is a turbo diesel one! so why has my gte got td cv joints and i assume td drive shafts? anyone else found this?

one is a vaux one one is a sagnaw (sp?) you have to count the teeth so see which one u need... 22 is the ones for 2.0 16v conversions ;)

yeah i had that problem on my nova GSi it has corsa GSi CV joints!! so you do really need to count the teeth and the splines on the old joint before getting a new one!!

yeah the new one i got only had 22 teeth and the old one has 28 have the correct one now gonna put it on tomorrow

ive had this pic for ages mate think u copied me. just cos i dont post a lot u haven't noticed. ive had that pic since the avatars started.
can i ask wot symptons u had 2make u wana change ur CV joint coz i fink mines gone aswel
altho i read in the trusty old haynes manual that for the outer 1's to be worn, ul hear knockin wen acceleratin on full lock+inner 1's is wen acceleratin hard in strait line...
however, mine has a knockin sound like all the time whilst drivin.. :( :?
Also, wen acceleratin gently+breaking gently the knocking is reduced greatly :? does this still sound like CV joints 2 everi1, or isit sumin else???
shud ichange both the inner+outers at da same time?+wot sort of cost am i gona be looking at...

mine was just clicking on full lock has been doing it for about a year, only changed it cos the gaitor has split and have my mot on sat so thouht i may aswell change the cv joint too. mine wasn't koncking though. think it was about ?40 with a new gaitor
the Haynes book shows different driveshafts & cvs for the GTE and how to identify them.
if you fit really wide wheels, the funny noises on full lock could be the inner sidewall touching the body
