Was going through the shed the other day and found these two badges from when I had my Nova's.

Nope, aftermarket ones but they are FOC.

So I'll ask again how does that make the badge "butchered"?

Well in my time messing with novas, I've never, ever, ever seen a red sr badge!

I have a 100% mint sr badge here, and it's not red, and looking around, due to no one buying it, I think they're not red!
