Some more photos of my holiday travels.

This time took a trip to the Karpas Peninsula (Cyprus' Panhandle) over the weekend. Known for its many local wild donkeys as well as its scenery and old monastary.

And No, I didn't take This picture ^

Was a fairly long trip, clocked up about 430KM's

Saturday... took off from where I was staying North West of the island to the east, Famagusta Town, where I stayed the night. Sunday morning I, along with the wife and mates, set off towards the very last point in Cyprus along the Panhandle. Took us almost 2 hours to get there. All the towns on the route there were pretty remote and the closest major town was Famagusta, so no stopping for fast food on the way

Driving through one of the towns:

Never realised it would be such a long drive.

Before you get to the end point there is an old monastary (the chapel is from 15th Century IIRC) 'Apostolos Andreas', considered a holy place by the Turkish and Greek, where we stopped and had a look around. Stupidly I didn't take any pics of said place :tard: as I was most probably busy looking at the pretty nice scenery and donkeys lol

Such a nice little donkey

As we set off that nice little donkey started worrying me (cue terminator soundtrack)

Yeah it blocked my car off, didnt wanna anger it as they are wild so just waited for a bit. She turned and walked towards my door so I very slowly started moving. They look so calm but you now there might be something hidden underneath.

About 2KM up the road was a small cafe, so we stopped there and had a bite to eat, mixed grill kebab for me yum.

The view from the car park

As we were eating that sweet little donkey's mate turned up. Came right up to the area where everyone sat, no one knew whether to go up to it to stroke it or stay well away. This one was calm and well intentioned. Lynz, if you were there I think you'd have wanted a pet donkey ;)

Had the chance so took some close up shots of it

Took some scenery pics from the cafe

Then headed off. Up until now the roads where nice and smooth with some a litte rough as we climbed up mountain roads. The road from there onwards were all dirt roads.

About 4KM from the cafe we arrived at our destination. Very end point of Cyprus. there was a big rock formation where the flag poles were, managed to get up that, approx 20 metres up, and took all my pics from there. I'll let the rest of the pics do the talking:

The coastline on the right which becomes the North coast of Cyprus

Felt like jumping in the water was so clear

The rest of the coastline to my left which becomes the South Coast of Cyprus

Facing North East, you see three small land masses which are the last bits of Cyprus.

Panoramic shots of both coast lines that eventually become the South and North coast of Cyprus.

As we left on the way back through the mountain roads we stopped at the 'Golden Beach' you'll see why its called that

I like donkeys:)

Would love to go to Northern Cyprus, how close did/can you get to Famagusta, and what did the place look like.

I've only seen it from the south looking over the border.

I stayed there mate :) I was in Famagusta town. I've previously had a quick tour there with mates aswell and I have some family that live there too. Famagust and the route leading to Karpas has some of the best beaches in N. Cyprus.

I guess you haven't seen donkey thats not in the best of moods. At the end of the day they are wild so I'd rather not find out lol

I didn't think you could get to famagusta. Went on a boat trip and wasn't allowed past a certain point?

There is a sectioned off part of famagutsa (southern Famaguta) which cant be accessed by anyone maybe that's what you are thinking of. Apart from that section the rest of Famagusta is accessible.
