are all small block alternators inter-changeable?

no, if i remember corectly there is a differance in where the connections are or somthing. not 100% what it is but remember having this problem before. i managed to make it fit in the end but cant remember how.
Connections may have slighty different connectors, but ive never had any major problems.

i would expect connectors to be able to be bodged to fit... but one area where the unit might concievably differ is the distance between the pulley and the alternator mounting bosses.

this shouldnt matter nova to nova unless its got twin carbs where you need a longer tensioner bracket to clear the carbs.
Some are different. SRi ones have the pully spaced further out to sit the belt out further for the bottom pully, for the crank sensor pickup wheel.'
And as said, the connections do differ. (Connection type that is)

so really i should get one from either an e16 or c16se to save the hassle of changing connectors?
C16 will have a spaced pully as its a crank sensor run engine.
A 1.2/1.3/1.4 should be fine...
Or just get a e16se one
