View Full Version : So... Who's got a Mac ?
I'm doing my diploma in architecture so i refreshed all my computer stuff this summer.. Bought a don desktop PC.
Found out we'd been stitched up regarding our room / area allocation in uni so decided i could do with a laptop. Looked at buying a cheap £400 dell, then found a Macbook (current) for sale 2nd hand @ £400 .
I've allways admired mac's for their deisgn and build quality...
However, they are for absolute complete retards. WTF... DRAG & DROP ? I'm not 4 years old . Then it's a complete mission when it comes to installing programs...... Yes it looks nice on my desk, but seriously; it's for complete simpletons !
I think i'l stick to windows 7 !
Vista's unreliability and randomness FTMFW! inb4vista=****
I'm running a Legal* Copy of Windows 7 Ultimate . I think it's awesome, basically has all the best features of OS X and Windows combined.

Macs are a piece of pish to work on, install apps and design on. I've been using them for 15 years and still enjoy my job. Best thing aswell is they rarely crash or get virus's.

Just stick with your pc then ;)
Someone once told me that a Mac can not get a virus, as far as I know they can

Yeah.. If they actually got someone to give some Apple style attention to the aesthetics it would absolutly rule; but windows is allways a bit tacky in a "corporate" kinda way.... But i guess that's the market .
It's definetly got better though, Features like the Window / Tab Peeking system is a step beyond OS X. Brilliant if you've got 7 browers open !
Plus, the performance on X64 is definetly noticeable.

Yeah you can. Just not as many around due to the dominance of windows in the PC market.

This is wrong as all the newer macs are all intel based. I actually have a programme that let's me open pc apps on my mac anyway lol
one week in the studio I crashed a PC 8 times compared with a Mac twice - MAC FTW! lol
cant honestly remember what I was doing to make them crash, I just know I had a big deadline looming and that wasn't helping.

performance wise... it uses next to nothing compared to vista, im currently running windows 7 on my laptop, specs are as follows
80GB S-ATA2 hard drive
1.5gb DDR2 pc6700 iirc
1.87ghz intel dual core cpu
runs very stable even before i upgraded the ram. it runs 10x faster than vista, and as soon as i installed windows 7, everything was working, wifi, sound etc, where as the driverpacks for xp and vista were very limited on compatability.
if anyone is looking to upgrade, windows 7 is currently the best available from microsoft.

Me and my bro use an iMac G5 (Intel 3.06GHz Dual Core) 4GB RAM 640GB HDD. As with iMac's they look real nice, we have the 24'' version, so far hasnt crashed on us. We use it for audio production etc purely because you can't buy Logic Studio for windows pc anymore. It's ok for a day to day pc but for an all-rounder pc Windows is more user friendly. Sometimes I feel they could make using the Mac slightly more efficient. But still can't complain about the iMac just gives the studio a pro look lol
