i know that this has probly been asked a million trillon times  but which set-up of brakes is best for a 1.4sr that will become a 1600 with twin webers very soon  . is it worth going all out and getting re-drilled (4-stud pattern) vectra V6 stuff or just stick to ATE calipers and 256mm astra discs? :?
Also anyone any ideas where i can get some bilstein nova cup dampers from in the hertfordshire or kent direction? I'd like some tarmac springs too... 8) 8)
cheers guys
i got a 1600 with twin 40s and i am just using 2.0 L calipers and disks off a cav gsi. cost me ?10 per caliper from local scrappy, plus new disks and pads = ?75 approx in total for the conversion. stops the thing a treat!

2ltr brakes will be fine
if you want to go the full hog then upgrade your servo to a bigger one
thisll just mean u dont have to press the brake as hard
what car could the servo be out of? is is worth taking the whole braking system out of a 2.0 16v?

u want a 20cm GTE/GSi servo from a nova
theother stuff MIGHT fit but im guessing it will be hit and miss
ate 16v calipers
256mm discs
gte/gsi servo

and 15 inch or above alloys
14" and above. Why do you think Astra gte's came with 14" alloys ;)
16v/V6 stuff will be fine but if your like to give your car a good ragging get some performance brake pads such as Greenstuff or Redstuff. The difference between the 2 are the way in which they work at a certain temperature. Red stuff works well when the brakes are very hot, greenstuff will work at a lower temperature. I believe they market the green stuff as "fast road" and the red stuff as "fast road/race".
If your not on a budget have a look at some of the 4 pot calipers out there from Hi spec etc.

One of my mates has a Nova 1300 sport with the original 14" wheels. He has 2ltr 16v brakes behind them too. Looks a very tight squeze but it fits!

Hmmmm are the 2ltr 16v brakes 256mm? I'm not sure to be honest. Perhaps they are smaller?

really couldnt tell you..........
for me its either wheel spacers, or find time to find a set of cavalier / calibra wheels
Yeh they are 256mm, the problems is with the width of the caliper not the diameter of the disk... There are quite a few 14's that fit actually, but Mike is right they wont fit standard nova 14's unless the pad is well over 1/2 way worn.

i just used slightly worn disks.....
I'm running 2.0 Astra Gte Discs and Calipers. I've just got some grooved and vented discs and greenstuff pads. They work pretty dam well. I'm running a 1.6 on Twin 40's also. I'd like to upgrade my servo, but there are ways round of getting rid of the "spongy" brake pedal.
