... to do to your Nova over the winter?

It's almost that time now, my Nova runs out of tax at the end of the month and is going to be in hibernation for the winter. Having had a much more successful year with it than 2008 (PVS, Billing, Trax... It also conquered the Swiss Alps- we did 2170 miles in it in 3 days without a single problem!), I feel motivated to get on and do all the things which I haven't had chance to do whilst it's been on the road.

China Blue Nova:

Paint the bumpers- might go for a darker grey this time.
Get the rear seats retrimmed to match the fronts.
Clean the blue paint off the headlining.
Fit a new lock set.
Change the coilovers, go LOW!
Find some small screws for the steering wheel shroud.
Buy and fit new carpets.
Sort the squeaky driver seat.
Fit new window winders.
Get some new numberplates.
Fix the exhaust leak.
Get a bit of headwork done, valve stem oil seals are past their best.
Try to fit my PNG stickers without getting **** loads of bubbles under them! Help! The Cavalier has a leaky exhaust and I would like to get a whole system on it. I will speak to Gareth at WCC and hopefully take it down to him at some point. The fuel pipe is perished so I'm getting a new one on this weekend. The rear arches are a little crusty, they'll be getting sorted out too. I also want to change all the boot carpet and trim for some black stuff out of that 20k Cav we stripped, mine has paint and stuff spilt on it from one of the previous owners.

The Jamaica Yellow Nova isn't a priority at the moment. We have far too many cars! It'll possibly be getting shipped up to Uncle Speckys for a daft engine conversion :thumb: dependant on funds. I also have some good ideas for the interior, a bit like my blue one.

We're moving out at the end of January and need to try narrowing down the collection a little. Dougie is a car nymph, I ****ing love it! Curent vehicles:

Blue Nova 2.0 8v mk1 - Serving me until the end of the month, then off for a well deserved rest.
Yellow Nova 1.2 8v mk1- Going on a holiday oop Norf.
Black Cavalier SRi 2.0 8v mk3- My winter workhorse :thumb:
Maroon Cavalier GSi 3.0 24v mk3 - Top of the priority list once the other cars are sold to make more space.
Purple Cavalier V6 2.5 24v mk3 *FOR SALE!*
Red Cavalier 2.0 16v mk2 - Retired for the winter, a few jobs to be done.
White Belmont 1.8 8v - Ready for the road now, possibly for the last time whilst it's n/a
Green Calibra Turbo 2.0 16v T - Getting some TLC and being put back on the road.
Silver Vectra SRi V6 2.5 24v *FOR SALE!*
Yellow Astra Sport 1.8 16v mk3 -we're going autocrossing next year in this
Blue Ford Tranny recovery truck- Just flew through it's MOT :dSo, what are your plans for your Novas and/or other cars?

Sort out water leak in boot i found today.
Get wheels fully re polished as they are looking tatty.
Sort/make/ re-trim front door cards in leather.
Re-trim bits of dash in leather.
Get a big list of bits i have chromed.

All i can think of off hand...

Can't you rent a garage Adam? It's a bit expensive down here, £40-50/month. My mum said when she moved into our house and rented a garage down the road, it was £8/ year. No chance, £8/ week is cheap nowadays! I don't know what we'll do with the cars. Gonna be fooked when we move unless we find a big place to store them all!

Right o, I want the following;

Polish the full car and blend any paint joins
engine out and stitch weld and add the Chris Astley kit
Paint engine bay
New pipe work
poly bush the car
larger brakes
spray the grey part again at the bottom of the car

but what I really want to do is have the thing taken back to metal, stitched and plated full paint, polly bush, powder coat all components - really a full rebuild so I'll see what the dosh is like come Xmas....

Reshell mine into a mustard yellow mk1 shell and do everything I've wanted to do to it properly rather than having to have it running to get to work/uni etc!

Get the inside all one colour (although not too bothered about it being nick j quality lol rattle cans will do, long as it's not half bare metal half grey!)

Fit a gsi dash which I've been meaning to do since I got my nova

Look into insuring a caged XE and figure out if I can afford it :d

Proper suspension setup depending on the cash that's around, i.e full gaz

then just fit my current seats etc, maybe spray the backs of them as they're a bit scratched up, haven't really decided yet :)

Have a couple smaller touches as well like gsi clocks, yellow backlighting on dials etc, gauges and my current carbon fibre trimming on dash etc planned but other than that pretty run of the mill stuff tbh!

Ash
07-10-09, 11:01 PM
errr... MOT it, drive it, fit the 40's back on, drive it. DONE! Maybe after the 'season' pull the engine out and sort the battery tray and front panel and respray the front.

Nova - finally planning on getting it on the road. so basically it stayed in the garage all of summer and comes out for winter lol well for the few days that it; be dry and sunny.

The bm coupe - doubt anything will change on it, love it how it is and hasnt got anything wrong with it.

The bm cab - just need to do a few little things and then if i can be bothered taking my reg off it il put it up for sale and buy something decent and a bit more expensive

In the meantime to keep me occupied i will hopefully be buying another project sometime before the end of the year, more than likely and hopefully a crx (wanted one since i was 17 and i keep putting it off).

Quite a quiet end of the year for me to be honest :(
