Quick one for those in the know, im looking at buying a set of individual throttle bodies for my Mi16 309, i just rang Spoox motorsport to see if they would have a manifold and one thing he said quite cockily is 'why would you want to run them throttle bodies?'

Are they not that good then? And what disadvantages do they have compared to the more obvious choice of TB's like Jenveys etc? Only thinking about it as they're going cheapish and ive been tempted to put TB's on it since ive had it.

You havent stated what brand of bodies you intend to use. enlighten us.

They look like bike boddies to me.

What i know about them:

Tapered TB's 48mm-43mm

No injector boss's - injectors and rail have to go on the inlet manifold

What I thought.

In which case they are a bit crap, 99% of the time never make it onto a car.
You will need a custom inlet manifold made to mate them to your head, with injector bosses & mounting points for the rail to bolt upto.
Far easier to find existing Mi16 TB or carb gear in all honesty. :thumb:

This is what you'll be looking at. :thumb:

Ahh theres a point, they're not the push on things. They're bolt on

as far as i know throttle boddies work well on pugs mainly because the inlet is at the front of the car so you easily have a cold air feed just by modifying a scoop from your drill straight to the throttle bodies.

Thats quite a sweeping statement. The TB's need to be worthwhile & suitable for the application in the 1st place. Personally I would keep the std injection. You wont see much in the way of gains until you play with cams & higher compression ratio.

Nitrous FTW.

I was pretty much decided i was going to get them but now im unsure.

I have been toying with the idea of have the block and liners decked to raise the compression anyway and im waiting for a price on a set of catcams. I was sure they arent bike bodies as they bolt on but i see what your saying.

Just dont know now lol

Decked block to raise CR??

Any gen on valves meeting pistons or cam timing being out due to a shorter cambelt run??

Basically having the block and liners skimmed. Apparently its been done a fair bit as a cheaper option to high comp pistons and havent heard of pistons meeting valves, timing etc could be sorted with some vernier pulleys.
