well i broke down today!! came out of a junction at traffic lights and suddenly lost all power, pressing the accelerator in 3rd gear wasnt doing a thing so i dropped into 2nd and still nothing!i rolled to a stop and managed to pull over at a safe enough place, and now it wont start.had to get a tow home.any ideas of the countless things it could be would be much appreciated,i checked the little fuel pressure valve and there is absolutely no fuel pressure
thanks,Lewis
Fuel pump died, what enigne is it, im guessing its injected hence the fuel valve thing (possibly XE) check your fuel pump wiring one mightve come off/snapped or pipe come off the pump?

yeh mate its an xe from a cavalier sri,i was thinking myself that something may off snapped or popped off,ill take a look...thanks
For it to just go like that id say wiring has knocked out your fuel pump go and have a nosey round your wiring and see, if youre lucky it might just be a simple plug it back in and youre sorted job:thumb:

Check that you've not run out of fuel, the gauges are terrible for wrong reading.

i thought it was the filter, aint a mechanic you see...the wire was hanging off what i thought was the filter,on the underside of the car next to the fuel tank??as soon as the wire was sorted it started 1st time
