View Full Version : Exaust?
can i replace the cat pipe on my 1.2spi (k reg)with the same pipe from a 1.2 carb? is it the same size? what do u call that section of the exaust? only want to know cos i can get 1 for free. will there be much power gain with a performance back box?
I think you can yeah! As long as the nova is the same mark! Eg mk1 for mk1! ETC! Few other issues though I think!
As for power, it will a "little" bit it will really be neglible unless you get an air filter too or even a full exhaust system!

just buy a de cat pipe made for "off road use".

any of the options discussed here are viable.........

a far more useful setup would be the following:
SRi/GSi (C16SE) manifold
SRi/GSi/GTE downpipe
GTE front/middle pipe
your current or a performance back box
the 1.2 carb exhaust is 3 parts - Manifold, front/middle pipe and back box
the 1.2i is 5 - manifold, downpipe, cat, front/middle pipe, backbox
the SR and GTE are 4 since there is no cat, the front pipe is just longer and attaches directly to the downpipe
the SRi and GSi have the same components as the 1200i but its better flowing
if your getting the exhaust free then fine - it should fit the 1.2i manifold ok, but if it doesnt - dont use the 1.2carb manifold as it doesnt have a lambda probe
you'll prolly see a few bhp with the decat, but most likely 5-8 from the full exhaust system and air filter(see my car in my profile for an idea on how to do the airfilter), if u could get a cam shaft from a higher model (even the carbed 1200) then u'd be looking at a nice little increase there too since the 1.2i cam is waaay mild

1.2carb zorst comes in 4 bits.... manifold, downpipe, mid section and backbox
the 1.2i has 5 bits mainfold, downpipe, cat, mid section and backbox
you can swap the 1.2i (downpipe, cat and mid section) for one off a 1.2carb
or swap the 1.2i mainfold for sri one, down pipe for gte/gsi/sri one mid section and cat area for a gte center section (it's all one long bit) and back box is anything you want
you may find it easier to get the mainfold off an astra mk3 1.4i/1.6i

how comes ste?

so can u use the cam shaft from any model of nova?

1.4 SR cam is the best
even has higher lifts / longer duration than the 1.6 gte

the sri cam may be slightly better still but i dont have any info on it
i also dont have any info on the durations of the cams - just that the SR cam has the most lift of the ones listed

cause they arn't seen as performance models so don't attract the ???? that a sri/gsi one would
