after the G40 and sleeper, i had played with both supercharged and turbocharged applications so i decided it was time to play with naturally aspirated *engines......

I bought this '80 m1 polo that is 680Kg kerb weight as standard

I got my hands on a 1272cc 10:1 compression mk3 'gt' engine and some cbr600 bike carbs and had a little play....to make life easier for the manifold design, i ported the inlet ports to be circular

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/royalblue8vgti/Image309.jpg

this allowed for much easier fitment of the bike carbs

to compliment the bike carbs and ported head i fitted 268 high lift cam, lightened bottom end, short ratio g/box, 4 branch and 2" system..... she was producing circa 100bhp while making all the right noises

Next up was 80mm lowering kit and my old steel matig ssf's in 7x13" et20 front, et 3 rear (only set of et3's in the uk at the time)

Next up is my current daily which is a white mk2 '90 spec golf gti which i bought as a shell with just shocks and springs on, no wiring, dash, carpets, seats, subframes, rear axle, brakes...nothing.

I robbed my mk3 2 litre 16v of it's engine etc etc

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/royalblue8vgti/21042009709.jpg

took the front subframe and rear axle to the mk2

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/royalblue8vgti/22042009758.jpg

got it on it's feet

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/royalblue8vgti/23042009783.jpg

and took it to a mates workshop so i could wire in the mk3 looms and fuseboard before fitting the drivetrain, brakes, steering column etc etc

I chipped the ecu and used the standard 50mm mk2 8v exhaust to keep torque output as high a possible.....I will, at a very later date be compund turbo'ing this car but that is way off yet, a lagless 340bhp should do :thumb:

interior wise she has two front seats, a steering column and wheel and cable tied on dash clocks....no dash, carpets or rear seats.....much the same as the xe nova on bike carbs i have next on my 'to do' list :)

That's not mine mate, the pic was taken on a friends drive after claying and detailing the mk2 as it had stood in a garage for six years....the mk1 cab is mint and has black factory leather in it which was a rare option
