In my opinion get an EARLY corsa gsi lump. (c16xe)

they are so tuneable, and dont suffer problems with 2.0 16v lumps, like access to alturnators etc.......

gte/gsi 1600 8v lump. Lightweight and can be tuned to 150+ bhp.

Or as Cp has done 1.4 16v which has the same bottom end as 8v anyway. His is currently running bout 180 bhp i believe.

It all depends on your budget i guess.

ok.. so what would be the difference with a

1.4 16v @ 150bhp
1.6 8v @ 150bhp
2.0 16v @ 150bhp

what would be the difference in

Handeling
Acceleration
Top end

1.4 16v will be a lot more expensive to tune to 150bhp than the others.

1.6 8v will be lighter and better round the twisty stuff and just as good as a stock 2.0 16v

2.0 16v can be tuned to a lot higher bhp.

Assuming your dont change the gearbox ratios you'll be looking about 125 top end on the 8v and 1.4 16v and about 140/5 on the 2.0 16v.

what about the 1.6 16v @ 150bhp?

is that the same weight as the 8v version?

does it have a higher top end? is it the ultimate comprimise instead of takin the 2.0 ?
