Hi this thread is continuing on from the last project thread i posted. Went down to Dumfries to pick up my new shell with weld in roll cage:d .Plans are still the same 2.0 16v redtop with bike carbs,Silk violet respray,Gsi kit & Speedline allessio's. Photos posted shortly

SMALL UPDATEGot my bucket seats onto my modified sr subframes, Used my mates nova for the measurements & it is in my drive since my 2 novas is in his lockup.will have to weld new seat brackets to the new shell tho

Had a little free time at work this evening so i Fcuk off down to the lockup to get some progress on the nova .Got a few more liters of paint to paint underside,rear wheel arches,boot floor & chassis legs are now painted.Also went to vauxhall to get sideskirt clips & rivets(£23.28 for rivets alone come on vauxhall your having a giraffe)added tailgate spoiler & finally i went to stonehaven to get a 5th Speedline (thanks Scorge01 most grateful) now some pics

Petroltank arrived today so decided to give it a coat of Hammerite silver,All Brake pipes are now done(forgot to take pics) Plans for tommorow are gather everything that needs powdercoated and drop them off,parts inlude rear beam,tiebars& bottom arms, wiper motor backplate spare speedline .rocker & timing belt covers.also ordered new drums,brakeshoes & cylinders,front & rear wheel bearing ,trackrod ends & balljoints.I will leave you with a pic of the tank.Any ideas welcome on what colour to powdercoat?

Not much of a update but here goes - fitted passenger sideskirt & petroltank.Also dug out my Magnex Stainless Exhaust needs a good going over with autosol.Found some headlight eyebrows,try'd em on but dont think i will use them.

Went to see painter today ,car will be going in to be coated in lovely silk violet at the end Febuary/ Start of march ,very reasonable price too:d Any recommendation on the best solvent based paint welcome as i have too supply paint/laquer/thinners

I don't really know about the paint but for the laquer and thinners I'd have a look at the U-Pol stuff

Very good stuff and easy to use/mix etc :)

Been a while since a update because ive been busy at work,Finally got a day down at the lock-up,manage to get seats bolted in. The shell came with seat bars welded in but were to far forward for me the get seat mounted properly ,so i removed them & refitted the original brackets off of the scrapped shell.Also dropped off my toolbox to save the nova being the toolbox,Got my paint ordered today aswell Lesonal Sb basecoat with Upol 2k laquer should arrive tommorow. Only 5 weeks to go till she is covered in lovely silk violet

i already had topchest:cry: ,so ended up with two so gave it to my mate who lets me store the nova(& lots of bulky nova spares) in his lockup all rent free while his nova sits outside:eek: exposed to the scottish weather

had a chance to work on nova today fitted up brembos with 305mm fiat coupe discs .i will need some 20mm wheel spacers or change to bells & rotors,think bells & rotors would be best option as wheel spacers would probably wreck the wheelbearings quickly

not had the time to do much with the project,bought a few parts front wings, a drivers door (3 fresh sets now) & a gsi bumper for the track.Got round to trail fitting dash around rollcage.Should get the garden ornament(lump of scrap as the misses calls it) moved this week
so my nova will have a roomate.

Managed to get some paint on the car( shame it aint violet) spent a few hours taking the inside back to bare metal then high build primer,also managed to weld up & fill rear wiper hole(still needs tidying but its a start).So next time i hope to get the roof inside primered & a few jobs done before finally going to paint shop.

update nova is due for paint 2-3 weeks (almost a year after originally planned:roll:) just been getting a few jobs done before paint ,drilled holes for baileys oil catch tank, stonegaurded & painted insides of the front wings. Got a few jobs to do -drill holes for central locking loom,

also my mate sold a corsa b nae to long ago for £400 with a funked engine, it was that azure blue colour in near mint condition with 43k, would of been a perfect shell for you aswell lol ive had a look for ya but not seen anything yet but ill keep an eye out for

Theres still loads to collect for the build ie- polycarb windows, carbon every thing, the list is almost endless. Motivation is the biggest thing needed but im sure TV day at crail will spur me on to get ma finger oot.

Make sure you rust proof the holes really well when you do the holes for the fuel filler. You may also want to put a load of sealer on the otherside as well under the wheel arch.

I put a similar one on my nova when it was red, the fuel filler did a great job of hiding a load of rust which turned into a nice big hole!

tim this thing will be rotton on the floor before you get it finished ha, once painted/sealed gives a shout in ill give you a hand to put it back together, could be done in no time min

mrT - should have been painted in may but got the front of the workhorse painted instead (waste of time cos i hit another deer a month later) .I will certainly give you a shout when it comes to reassembly ,finally scraped my corsa gsi so i will get time to do bits & pieces on this now.

A few things done today, Ap 4pots arrived & were given a quick coat of red paint. started to wire in my Clifford alarm & blackjax (anti-carjacking). Also relocated wiring loom gromet to behind firewall because roll cage forward trianglation uses original hole. I'm undecided if i will hide engine loom & i checked new headlights for fitment

Finally got my Vauxhall Mats that were on backorder they are corsa B one but fit the nova floor nicely, well the fronts do. Also got my handbrake S shaped clip. No longer will i have to use a wheel choke to stop the nova from moving

I made a start to my manifold today . It is only tacked together at the moment & carbs are attached with duct tape as I have misplaced the rubbers. Also fitted rear mudflaps.

Thought i would update this , not much to report bar its been rehomed twice ... Lock up was starting to let in water & rental increase so moved out , a friends girlfriend has a free garage that i could use till she sold her house , then with her moving date approaching i have rented a storage container to store it now

Thought i try Mim's on , loads of room in arches now ,also got my centre badges from sign writer , just need clear resin domes to finish them off , took Alessios home to clean ... Still look good depite been powder coated about 8-9 year ago

Finally got some colour onto car , boot & rear bumper painted , pickedup some genuine wings at billing from Duick , so
have sent them along with bonnet to paintshop & should be back november .
