Just tried DVLA checks on a couple of registrations I thought it may be and it comes back with nowt lol. Looks like T22 GFW or OFW to me but computer says no.

Seems like a ph1 GTi front bumper but I can't see any skirts, looks to be phase 2 GTi headlights as you say. Crap pic though, and it is a solar year from the ground so that doesn't help either.

As it did me, and the shorter than normal front wheel base as the front wheels closer to the back of the front bumper on cossie's, that and the lack of wider arches, the rear arches not meeting the spoiler, the standard bonnet, the lack of opening rear quarter windows..............................

It puzzles me why most people don't use a mk5 as the base, or at the very least delete the fogs on the boot and fettle the front a bit. As you say though, genuine ones have Sierra floor pans.

All of the best replicas end up running original Ford parts too (I disticntly remember one from Fast Ford years ago) Almost perfect except for his 1400 CVH! lol

The tow eye thing reminds me of making a mk3 Escort from a mk4, I read once that if done correctly, front panel etc. the only obvious difference is that the towing eye is on the wrong side.

It wouldn't be a hard thing to change like lol. This was a few years back when I wanted an RS1600i (still do!) or to build a replica and mistakingly thought getting a 'clean' 3dr mk4 would be less hassle but these days they seem to compete with each other to see which can rot out the quickest! lol

sadly it had s1 wheels on the only difference to tell is s1 wheels have stampings on 3 of the spokes and 16is only stamped on one spoke,
my old rep had the wrong front struts too but i didnt care also never got time to fit the lower fogs on but did repaint the mirrors all satin black again and the front splitter
sold it for £650 on ebay a while back
