When 'Yours faithfully' and when 'Yours sincerely' in a business letter?
When the recipient's name is unknown to you:
Dear Sir ... Yours faithfully
Dear Madam ... Yours faithfully
Dear Sir or Madam ... Yours faithfully
When you know the recipient's name:
Dear Mr Hanson ... Yours sincerely
Dear Mrs Hanson ... Yours sincerely
Dear Miss Hanson ... Yours sincerely
Dear Ms Hanson ... Yours sincerely
When addressing a good friend or colleague:
Dear Jack ... Best wishes/Best regards
Addressing whole departments:
Dear Sirs ... Yours faithfully
:d
I'd say yes as you don't know the potential employers, also, how else would you end it?
I'd put "hugs and kisses"

same here or ive made a massive funk up on all my cover letterslol
only reason i ask is it looks odd sending an email that ends so formally.
""i look forward to your response/hearing from you" is what Jack says to write.
eg-Please find enclosed my cv in the application for the Porn Star vacancy
I look forward to your response
Mr Burgo
that way it ends the letter and sort of makes it obligatory (sp) to respond to your application as some dont bother at all
'Many Thanks' is less formal?

Rgds..... Nah North South what I use N as in you know their name and the S for sincerely which leaves faithfully if you don't know their name
you are my new best friend :d unless you dont get the job that is :p
Simple rule - Don't mix your S's.
i.e., if you start with "Dear sir/madam", don't finish with "Yours sincerely"
Keep it formal, especially if you don't know the recipient - remember emails are basically a letter, but in electronic format. You can still add the "I look forward to your reply" in as well.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I are burgo, pls give job.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours Faithfully,
Mr Burgo.
I find 'Big up yourself and much respect, brap brap' less formal than sincerly/faithfully
I've been ending mine 'kthnxbai'. No wonder I'm still looking. It should have been, 'Yours faithfully, Lynsey B, kthnxbai' lol
Any news on whether you'll be working day and night at that big new computer job yet Burgo? Fingers crossed :)
