every time i post a question ike this i usually get mike and a few others telling me i know **** all and to basically dont bother asking, so no reply's unless its constructive please,

im collecting the nessesary parts to turbo my 2.0 8v sri motor, as im running twin 40's not only do i have to uprate them to take boost (kit avalible) i need to get some sort of ali box made to mount on the trumpets to replace were the original injection inlet would have been, any suggestions with this? will the size make a difference? i think ive seen something similar on baxters loon.

thanks

i was going to use fibreglass and mould a inlet plenum with 4 pipes in to connect to card/tb's

i used to work with fibre glass most days so using the stuffs easy, how ever i have my reservations as to weather it would hold

I'm not sure exactly what your doing but is it a similar idea to this?

Or something like this. :d

Similar, but on carbs (the pic is of injected throttle bodies), so you have to make it boost tight and also run a throttle cable through it, question came up a little while ago. Think it has to encapsulate the whole carb too due to the way they work? Rather than just feeding into the trumpets.

i remember reading that about the carbs now, dont understand why the hole carbs have to be inclosed, maybe its a better idea to just run with inj then?

You could do it like what I had on my bike carbs. No great pics sorry. Basically a ally plate the same diameter as the pipercross airfilter.

Because carbs work on pressure differences, if you just turbo the trumpets I'm guessing it blows the fuel back into the tank?

ahh i see, maybe just stick with inj then

imho stick with inj as with any tangable level of boost the T40's will be at their limit anyway (even if you did get them setup right in the first place).

thanks for all the usefull advice, cant wait to get cracking, and i WILL do what most people keep asking abouts and do a 8v turbo conversion

Not so much telling you that you know fook all, but seriously fella, how do you stand a chance of building an engine if you don't know the fundamentals of what are schoolboy questions tbh?

Theres a bit more to it than bolting a scrapyard blower to a manifold & throwing some Samco's & a dumpvalve in for flavour.
