im hoping to put an seh engine into my saloon, i have a 1.3 with 92hp at the wheels and just want to know if there will be much difference and if it would be worth it? im only thinking 2.0 8v because i can get one cheap, i know all the modifications you have to do and what i need to get but i just want to know if its worth it. cheers

not really, both me and the guy at rolling road were shocked, unless internals have been modified. all its got is fast road cam, weber carb, sportex exhaust and iridium spark plugs (if they actualy make a difference than emptying your wallet). dont seem that fast though, bets corsa sports and fiesta zetec 1.6. i dont wan to put a 2.0 in to find its a tiny bit faster

a 2.0 8V SEH Nova will be stupidly fast compared to a 1300 with a twin choke carb and cam.

Bags more torque to the 2.0 over a 1300. Most notably better at climbing hills I'd imagine. Plus it will start & run better being on injection.*

* assuming the donor engine isnt too worn.

I spoke to the lad in Keighley who owns the Silver 5 door. Thought it was you.

Anyway I'll stop spamming your thread. lol

i dont think the engine is worn as it was pulling uphill with a full car doing 120mph, the car being a cavalier.

to be honest im not a major fan of injection, i dont like to rely too muchon electrics. im a carb man personally

The 2.0 8v is a cracking engine, bags of torque, and with a close ratio box its easy to cruise around at 30mph in 5th and not needing to change down 3 gears when you want it to go. Make sure you get an seh and not just a 20ne though. And the electronics side of them is very good, nothing really to go wrong, my mate has got a 1990 cav sri with 268,000 on it and it still runs beautifully. :thumb:

ive converted 5 novas with 2.0 8v's and tbhink its a great conversion. and the electrics are pi$$ easy.

Yes, my Cav and Novaa both have SEHs and I have had no troubles with them. In fact, we took the Nova to the Italy and The Alps the other week, did 2170 miles in 3 days and made it home without ANY engine problems. It did 51mpg overall, including going up the mountains! I'd say do it :thumb:

Ive got some 40mm rear springs mate, and should have my courtenay sport front springs up for grabs soon. PM me if your interested. Your best of using the donor cars pump as well.
