A lad called Ben on here from chorley fitted one to his Van, have a word with him, he's very much well in the know with these kinda things. I would say dont expect to much from them though as opposed to something like a nova the astra i own weighs nearly 2tons so performance wise its not all that brilliant :thumb:

I'd say your money was better spent tuning that.

X20XEV's can be pretty good tuned so as said, stick with that.

agreed. all the hassle of fitting an XE for an extra 15bhp (approx) just isnt worth it, when theres plenty of mods out there for the XEV that will easily see 150+bhp

yes but my xev has loads of problems, had new ecu loads of sensors, still not fixed.

had auto electrician out and said was ecu, changed it and still the same.
all i can put it down to is engine loom.

Just buy an Astra with a Z20LET in it, be much easier and quicker and poss cheaper in the long run! There are plenty of Coupe Turbos & GSi's out there.
The 2.2 SRi is a good motor too, same power as an XE but lighter as its an ally block.

Not to modify, just buy one as is rather than faffing round trying to make another older engine fit

most auto electricians are chancers & whatever their super duper box of tricks says, is gospel to them.....

i had tons of trouble with ecu lights on my omega 16v.... the gm dealer kept telling us it was this, that & the other... another bloke found that the inlet manifold was loose...........the head had been done at the dealer & they had done a crap job of putting it back together
