How to replace ignition barrel without old key?

Hi guys. Can any1 help me with this? I have bought a stolen recovered nova and a new set of locks but as I don't have the key 4 the old lock I can't set it to position 1 to remove the barrel. I've tried screwdrivers and hammers etc with no success. Any help will be appreciated.

drill it out

its a bit hard but works
use a good 10- 13 mm drill bit

i say, coloumn off, two bolts, one sheer nut. and the one nut at the bottom of the doughnut joint then grind of the old barrel if you have the new bracket as well, if not then hmmmm i dunno lol

thats how i would do it too, shouldnt be too bad on a nova, had to do one on a merc a class about a month ago

Unfortunatley I don't have another bracket so I guess I'm gonna have to get the drill out.

Think the whole lock assembly removes from round the column by taking out one shear bolt. Might be able to get at it then.

as above, the whole lock comes off with one shear bolt.

id go for the drill approach.

Yeah thanks guys. I'll try drill it out 2night an If that fails I'll remove it.

Well it failed and now my steering lock is brocken so i'm gonna need a hole new piece. It was help on by a torx type nut. Used an E8 socket, like the ones for the headbolts, to undo it
