i'm thinking about fitting a nova gsi engine in my 1991 sr, can i just take the 1400 out leaving the gearbox in and just bolt the 1600 in its place? also would it be best to use the gsi fuel pump thats mounted next to the fuel tank (allowing me to keep my standard tank) or get a tank with an internal pump? i want to fit a 2l 16v eventually so will the external nova pump be able to supply enough fuel or will the 16v pump pump (mounted in tank) be better? are there any other solutions?
thanks,
Scott

Yes it will bolt straight in.

Yes the external mounted pump is best to be used, also use the GSi fuel lines.

Yes the pump will be powerful enough for a 2.0l 16v.

I would recomened changing the Gearbox to the GSi's F13CR at the same time.

the gearbox wont fit on the GSI lump you need the F13cr box that came with the GSI lump

not 100% sure i thought you had to change the tank due to a swirl pot :?

the rest should just bolt in.....

doesn't the gsi use different driveshafts as well though, i was told that they've got a different number of splines which is why i thought it might be easier to keep my gearbox. so will i need new shafts and will they fit my hubs?

in other words dont worry, the ends are the same, just the middle bit may differ

use the gsi / 1.6 ones as they will be stronger and made of thicker metal

ok thanks for your help.
Don't suppose any of you know somebody thats selling a damaged or mot failure gsi then do you?! preferably with less than 83k miles on the clock cos thats all the 1.4s done, seams silly to put an engine in thats done more miles!

i got a fitting guide for the 1.6 16v engine off of valvers.com and that says you can use the f10 box with the 16v engine. why cant you use the f10 with the 8v engine? they both use the same engine block dont they?
