Hi all

I have a 1600 8v SPI lump that I want to convert to turbo as cheap as poss but dont have a clue where to start.

The engine is out of a mk3 astra cabrio.

The first thing I was thinking of doing was to change the SPI to MPI from either the gte or gsi lump. Been been read on the net and as far as I can work out I wont need to change the pistons as these are low comp.

Where do I start to and what do I need? Was thinking of buying 1 of the 2.0 8v manifold off ebay and then having it moddifed to fit this engine, would that be the best option? As for the turbo I was thinking of getting 1 from an old rs turbo as you can pick them up quite cheap off ebay.

SO I know I need to change to MPI
Turbo manifold
Turbo
Have the down pipe made up

What else do I need/ need to do?

Any help much appreciated as I dont have a clue.

Cheers all

Jay

2.0 8v manifold wont fit at all, its a big block one and yours is (should be) a small block.

plus have a look at a few threads from this very week about turboing the 1.6
