I need to take the alternator pulley off tonight but I'm not sure what type of bit I need to get to undo the bolts. The bolts are socket heads (female) heads and are some sort of multi spline, maybe about 12 splines. Bits I've seen similar while googling it are spline bits and XZN bits.

For all I know these aren't standard fit bolts anyway, but any help appreciated.

Not torx sockets, I'd recognise torx. These have much more, much finer splines.

Just don't what? Take it off? Hardly worth the hassle of taking a non-runner to a repair shop just to take a pulley off

you have answered your own question !!!!! there are two types early ones being spline and the later ones being torx bits, everyone i know has used the later ones as the early ones round out for a past time

Thanks :thumb:

Seemed sensible to have it confirmed by someone rather than invest in a bit/set of bits that "look like they might fit" and find I'd wasted time and money
