purely the fact that the gsi is the mk2 version (facelift of the GTE)
and thats it
so basically a few of the styling features have been updated and whatever, but its the difrence between a mk1 and mk2 sr i guess, or any nova for that matter
the engine did differ slightly on the gsi and gte, diffrent electronic system was used, total vauxhall reports the perfomance etc of both engines the same, except the GTE does a 0-60 in .0 sommat seconds faster

gte quicker 0-60 due to no sunroof/ew
gsi quicker top end due to better aero
TECHNICAL SECTION ????
prob styling question too.
The interior on the gsi was slightly diff too to the gte - not much but things like headrests, dash etc (obvious really but felt I had to contribut summut!)

seats were trimmed in different fabric too
GTE = 'lazer' trim which was mainly grey + redish brown.
GSI = 'rio' trim which was mostly black with little multicolour bits woven into the fabric.
:D
Didnt the GSI's have a catalyst? i dont think the GTE's did! unless they were very late models!

cars are tested on base spec urs with s/r and ew would have been slower than book times

The only GSi's with the catlysts were registered in 93 (k/l) anything before then dosent have them (as standard as people do some weird stuff to cars) So no the GTE's (last registered 91) did not have them.
