I've tried the search, blah blah, but still cannot find anything solid,

apart from power, what are the differences between the two?

Sorry if this has been answered a million times before, just trying to figure it out..

Also... how do you create a sig :D :D :D?

what are the main differences, crank head, ecu, could the head of a 1600 go on the 1400...

what makes the power difference?

what are you trying to achieve?

A 1600 head will go on, but I dont think its a stright on jobby!

The cam and carrier isthe best way to see a little added gain, as the 1600 has 20thou more lift than the 1400 variant!

I'm trying to find out the difference as I plan on replacing my current engine, and have seen more c14se's than c16's available... want to see how difficult it would be getting the power up with stdparts..

the 1.6 and 1.4 mpi heads are pretty much the same bar compression ratio which you would want to measure and adjust accordingly (ie raise the CR if its too low)

iirc everything else is the same between the 14se and 16se bar the bottom end. From what I recall the 1.4 sri is a riot and not really "missing" what the power lack suggests

As stu says, the 1400 is a bit revvier & happier above 4k rpm.

With a flowed head & enlarged valves, I'd be happier with the 14SE tbh.

Main differences mechanically are bore size, pistons, rods, crank, cyl head & depending which 1600 you use as comparison- the loom & ECU (map).

cheers for that, i'm just torn between them. Sooner I get rid of this 1.2 lump the better, my "GSi Alike" may have to do with at 1400. Owned an SRi many moon ago and I have to say that I loved that engine.

Cheaper Tax as well :d
