The masses say they are, so they must be.

Retro as a term really falls into an opinion rather than a definate status, as & when you pass a certain age.

I dont think they are truly retro, but going how few you see out & about on a daily basis. I guess the decision to drive one these days is a retro one.

^ Agreed.

Also there isn't enough of a difference between the mk1 and 2 to call one retro and one not IMO. Seeing as they were available up until L reg I still see them as modern(ish) although the lack of them on the roads would say otherwise. lol

Hell, I heard some kid calling a last of the line mk1 Clio old skool a few weeks back! lol

Its only in the last few years the GSi's havent quite had a modern edge IMO. I look at my Red GSi & think it still holds its own amongst some supermini's that have only just gone out of production. Colour coded bumpers FTW.

Fully agreed mate. It also surprises me how much facelifted/replacement models start to look like the older ones they replaced.

Corsa C's can look a lot like B's and the other day I could have sworn a mk1 Mondeo was a Sierra. I guess this makes sense as they are just updated versions of a familiar shape, but strange how when they are new you can't see this in them at all.

Another thing not working in the Nova's retro favour IMO is that the shape has remained 99% the same from start of production to the end. Where as Ford went through almost 3 generations of Fiesta in the same amount of time. (mk1's started in '79 (R) afaik and the mk3 'classic' ran until 96, but not far off the cease of the Nova lol)

The Nova had a really good innings tbh. I can't imagine another GM car going for aslong.

Fiestas suck balls. I hate the mk3's with a passion.

lol Yeah, the only mk3's that get any time of day from me are nice RST's or XR3i's. Still despise that interior though!
Mk2's pretty much the same, although I can see the XR2's appeal now.

Can't knock a mk1 XR2 or Supersport though IMO! Cool cars and I want another.

I can't believe I am typing this given the sh1t quality steel Nova's are made from, but cars these days are not meant to last! lol I'd be surprised if GM themselves last as long as the Nova given their current pickle!

Picture's speak louder then words.

You need to have owned one to know what they are really like, my mk3 XR2i was the worst car i have had this displeasure of owning!

It was extremely fast fro what it was, when it was working and not braking something every other day! :tard: lol

I could imagine removing the petrol cap one day and taking half of the rear quarter with it if I was ever unfortunate to own a 2i lol

lol lucky for me i sold it before it got to that point, but the guy after me sold it on to his mate (proper tool) and he hand brake turned it into a park bench and the filler neck/cap detached from the car with half the rear wing! lol guy was a bell end!

LMAO! The best memory I have of a mk3 Fiesta doesn't even involve me being it! My mate was eager to show me how quick his brand new EP3 Type R was and went to overtake 'that old Escort and Fiesta' 120+ on the clocks and we were still behind.
Pulled into the service station with them for a bit craic and they (both mk3's) were both 2.1 ZVH's lol.

A mate of mine had several mk3 Tommy Coopers hat sh!tters when he first passed his test. One with random bits of bodykit turning it into an XRT/RS2 lol. All sprayed in the garden with rattle cans, runs and soil present! lol

im a guilty culprit.. im a big fan of retro and think ive a good idea of what is retro/what isnt..
a nova is a good example of the latest/newest retro .. mk2 fiesta, renault 5 etc. Basically, at the moment anything 80's is in. Soon early 90's cars will get the nod..
ive not read all replies, but i do agree that base/easly/standard models look more retro than modified/later spec models-but it is still a retro car.

i have always said that mk2 dashes look more modern than a corsa Bs, i would say a early mark1 is retro because,.. you guys know what there like inside!!

Mk2 are modernish though just not many left(probable because they were so popular at the end of the 90s and early 2000s by young lads)
