View Full Version : Urgent wiring help
Ive got a Ripspeed DV720 headunit and i want to run a sub, amp and 6x9 speakers.
I know ive got to run the channel-out wires on the stereo to the amp, them the amp to the sub etc etc.
But how do i go about wiring up my 6x9's? do i wire them into the original standard loom? or should i have to run these off my amp also? if yes, then how do i do this?

alrite matey, its up to you have you wire them up, if you wire them off your amp all you need to do is add the 6x9 wires onto a channel on the amp if you run it off the headunit just take a little bit of the cover on the wires off using a stanley knife and wrap the 6x9 wires around it (solder if possible) and then insulation tape. Do this how many times as needed. Any more help give me a shout.
Righty lol
Your 6x9s can run straight off the HU. However, they'd probably be underpowered, so you're better off amping them.
Now you have two options. Either you can run them off the amp that powers the sub, providing there's enough channels, or you can run another seperate amp. You'd either need to split the RCA leads from the HU, or ideally use another output if it has one.
Its a 400w 2 channel amp, so i cna use 1 channel for the sub, and then the 6x9;s off the amp also?

Right...
I know how to run everything to the amp. Now, i have 2 channels, one for the sub, and the other for the 6x9's. so can i wire BOTH my 6x9's onto the one channel? if you get me? lol

agreed! u dont get true sound from them!
and 6x9's probily do well working off the HU mate just replace the wire with some higher grade speaker wire, then use ur amp to power the sub

Then i ditched the 6x9's and uprated the standard nova speaker's to kenwood items and sounds good enough through the headunit.
so are you saying you now have both the sub and the 6x9's running out the same amp?

why didn't you give the 6x9's a channel each and bridge the sub to the two channels? lol
would have been better than mono noise lol
Its a 2 channel amp though, so that ^ wouldn't work
In all fairness you wouldve been better off running the 6x9s from the H/U and just the sub from the amp, drop the bass off the 6x9s and let them just be mid and treble speakers and the bass can be dealt with by the sub, youre best bet is a set of components tbh as if youre running a sub there is no need for 6x9s as theyre bass speakers for use without a sub in all fairness!
