ive just bought a set of 4 supposedly kent cams ( re-ground gsi ones)
how can i tell if they are what they are meant to be? they look brand new and have dots stamped on the shafts.
one shaft has one dot, the ohter 2 the other 3 and one has 4, im guessing that is the order they go in from front to back?
they look visibly higher lift to me :tard: lol
anyone any ideas?:thumb:
measure the lobes and compare to std cams.
measure the base circle and then the lobe height. lobe height - base circle = lift.
As I can almost guarantee that if you measure the lobes only it will look like they are lower lift cams

yeah they do measure up lower lift, lol. is that how they are supposed to be?
do the dots corrolate to the order they should be fitted? bank one being the one furthest to the right when looking at the engine from the cambelt side?
i have some numbers that are stamped on the side of the cams: kcdh1042 08014 ( i think thats what it said, very hard to read a few of the digits)
the base circle will be ground down to make the lifter jack up and make the lift greater (thats how regrinds work) so the overall lift will "look" less on the cams compared to std

you would be better off asking on migweb as there will be more people with v6's on there. or try ringing kent cams

i cant stand mig web, they are genrally arogant unhelpful tossers on there (except for a few)
if your new on there you stand more chance of getting a sarcastic comment than any help.
il try ringing kent then lol lol
your loss then. good luck
