Strange request of the day . . .

My housemate has asked me to help her restore her Nans tombstone. Its granite, but her Grandad had Hammerited it black, and despite his efforts, it looks terrible. He was apparently very busy with the hammerite . . .

She would like it taken back to the original black granite.

Would Nitro-Morse be too much for that?

Not keen on sanding it TBH . . .

Any ideas?

I'd say the best way would be to sand blast it..... but thats not very convinent.

Depends on what granite it is, and how it's finished.

Some kinda harsh paint stripper should be ok as long as you apply it for the minimum possible time.

have you tried normal thinners yet and if that didn't touch it, i have found a way that worked very well on a painted white rear bumper and i wanted it back gray/black so i tried spraying it with just rattle can and it looked **** so while it was wet i got hot soapy water and the white paint came stright off and it was as good as new.

said a bit more the 2p so just my 10p's worth
