26-06-10, 12:48 AM
lush, sorry if you've already said but what sorta spec you going for and what kinda power do you think your going to achieve? can link me up if you have already said instead of typing it out again

djbrowney
26-06-10, 12:57 AM
im trying for 200-220 horse power

C16xe from corsa/tigra ect-free
Standard vxr rods and bolts £45 (something stupid like that)
Standard vxr pistons £200
oil squirter £30
rebore £80
Cometic gasket £100
standard vxr turbo £150
going to use standard head and i have had a power box made with the inlet on the passenger side.

You need to buy a oil filter relocation kit because it hits the turbo, also cut the thermostat housing in half and weld it back together 180 deg the other way so it also misses the turbo other than that evrything seems to be going ok

im sure i missed some bits

Had the bottom end re bored because the pistons an 0.2 mm bigger ffs, vauxhall also fitted the oil squirters in the vxr lump but im not sure if there needed. cant hurt though !

Dervy
26-06-10, 01:43 AM
so im not the only one who thought having the throttle body on the other side of the power box is a good idea, it just looks much better on the right :)

djbrowney
03-07-10, 07:23 PM

Been degreased, acid dipped, zinc coated

Gave the gaz coilovers a coat of zinc as well the went rusty in teh ****ing box :(
its so nice to fit everything thats brand new, come home just as clean as i left which was weird lol
Front legs built up, calipers re sealed and fitted. collected my wheels in the week but need another as one has a flat spot in it :(
not complete yet but it progress
rear end tomorrow i hope :thumb:

MattBrown
05-07-10, 11:55 PM
Thats gonna rub worse than a dog with flees!

Any way you can slim the beam down 5mm?

Or is it gonna be an arch lip romoval, and thinner tyres on the rear?

Also, ENGINE PICS:d:d

djbrowney
06-07-10, 12:01 AM
its not going to rub lol, how the fook do you trim the beam down 5mm and the tyres are staying lol

The Simps
06-07-10, 12:02 AM
Shim in a littke bit of camber?

djbrowney
06-07-10, 12:09 AM
but then i just makes the top of the wheel hit the coil over so dosnt help me really buddy !

chrisnovaturbo
06-07-10, 12:22 AM
just dont run it to low. looks realy smart with them wheels. need to get it on the floor on all four wheels cos at the mo your pushing one side up witch is giving you negative camber. your find it will be even closer to the arch when on the floor. i did the same thing on mine the other week.

hi just been looking through your project mate, must say great work your doing, real credit to you.
but i noticed your bottom ball joints look like they haven't been fitted correctly, i think they should be bolted under the lower arm not on top of it?

Good spot 7ova but its perfectly fine. You have to run them that way when running an f28 gearbox. Its perfectly safe.

Good spot 7ova but its perfectly fine. You have to run them that way when running an f28 gearbox. Its perfectly safe.

Simps you dont run them like that on a F28 nova. You should run them like this:

Ball joint, TCA, spacer, tie bar and nut.

comptoncj
06-07-10, 07:37 AM
I know when running an f20 the N/S driveshaft pops out with that set up, never heard of it needing to done when using an f28 though.

djbrowney
06-07-10, 07:50 AM
as rick say when running an f28 its on the bottom, but im only running F20. The only reason it like that is so it easier for me to slide them out the way when the engine is lifted in lol

djbrowney
06-07-10, 07:51 AM
And brownies bird would knowlol lol lol lol lol

an you know she would deck you where you stood if she had read it lol

I meant the ball joint can be sat on top, but yes, tie bar needs to be on the bottom.

7ova
06-07-10, 09:25 AM
it just jumped out at me as being wrong
because i'm still a small block GSI man with a F13 box ;)
didnt want you to have any problems from it.

tie bar has to be on top!

The Simps
06-07-10, 11:34 AM
tie bar has to be on top!

Not when running an f28 you don't. Ball joint can be on top or underneath (should really be underneath tho)

This is what most do for f28...
