It'll be stamped on the engine.

Is it injection?

Is it not on the head. Have a look at the front of the engine on the oil cap side. It should be stamped on there.

if its SPi (single point injection), its most likely a C 14 NZ

you should find the code in 1 of 2 places

on the eng. block where it meets the gearbox belhousing, there is a flat angled section, its starts with the code and follows with the engine number

or

there is usually a flat edge at the top of the block, where the cylinder head is fitted, its like a little tab usually front right looking in, around the dizzy /coil pack area

top as in top, not top at the block front

Try this.

The engine pictured is a C14SE (mutipoint injection) so dont worry if yours looks slightly different.

"pictures speak a thousand words" lol

it will be

C14SE if its MPi

C14NZ if its SPi

some of the later astras were x14sz.
