View Full Version : what engine+gearbox oil

what engine oil should i use in my x16xel engine. the engine will be used for motorsport. what gearbox oil do i need and how much for a f13cr and while i am at it what brake fluid do i need to use i am using 256mm 16v brakes thanks for any help :)

engine: a reasonable priced 15w50 that you change after every event.. gbox: an sae80w-90 that you also change after every event

that is my guess. expensive oil is only any good for extended service schedules, so cheap & often is a better bet.

we need to have a thread in the how to section with peoples favourite and best oil to use with engines cause theese pop up alot! but yeh mowgglius got it right as always lol

i got the oil today. how much do i put in the gearbox? do i fill it 2 the top?

And also no one can search for anything to do with oil due to it being a 3 letter word and thus gets omitted form any search results!

As annoying as GTE, GSi etc etc.

god no!!!!!!

1.7L if the box has jsut been drained and refilled... if tis a totally dry box then 2litres will be fine.

I tend to slightly over fill gearboxes and then put a pipe from the breather to a catch bottle and let it breathe to the level it desires.

in the mazda redline shockproof gets used for the gearbox/diff, because other stuff kills them
