me again peeps,

i'm looking for an engine transplant, coinsidering everything which would be the best engine to put in to me bitch

e.g. mpg, best tuning potential, insurance etc

The ultimate is the 2.0 l Turbo - i've just see a 225 bhp 2.0l 16 V Courtenay special which must be up there but u'll need 5 grand plus for these babies. I've just done a 1.6 into 1.4 incl. twin 40's which gives you near 120bhp and you dont have to seam weld etc etc the car to get it in. Cost around ?1000 plus inc. necessary extras. Otherwise go for flowed head, free flow exhaust and with or without twin 40's on your 1.3 or 1.4's - u'll be getting around 95 hp out of a modded 1.4. This can be done for ?750 - ?1000. The tuned head will if done properly improve consumption by around 5mpg if done well but twin 40's are bad news (in the 20's or lower) I think the 2.0l are supposed to be very reasonable. As regards insurance forget about any more than subtle improvements such as head work which won't be detected unless you are over 25 I'm afraid.
