After doing a bit of this....
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0955.jpg
And getting rid of a 2 year garden ornament....

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0956.jpg
Selling all my parts, paying off 4 credit cards (scary i know!) saving a bit here, wheeling, dealing & doing some other stuff here an there..
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0959.jpg
I ended up getting owed a favour, at first it was ok, then after a while it took the pish, then after a bit longer i was pished off..... one thing lead to another & I ended up with this late yesterday afternoon....
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0969.jpg
As you can see, the previous owner needed rid of it in a hurry (RE: The favour he owed me)...
So this morning (12th September) I opened her up.... an found this sh1t...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0960.jpg
My wheelie bin at 9am this morning..... dirty, smelly, not a nice place to venture. A bit like this van....
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0961.jpg
Some time later i found this little lot
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0962.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0963.jpg
And come 11am... this sh1t...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0964.jpg
Tada!
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0965.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0966.jpg
Found this crap up front...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0967.jpg
Rinsed the hoover round & generally minced about..
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0968.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0970.jpg
And spent the last 4 hours cleaning, polished, t-cutting an such like....
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0971.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0972.jpg
Up front i also found the original bill of sale, delivery confirmation stuff, dealer booklet, an other bits an bobs.
Tomorrow is fix all the broked stuff time.
Wiper stick has been snapped off, interior lights have a w@nk connection an barely work, spare tyre is FUBAR & brakes need bleeding.
Then its subtle modding time i thinks.
Tidy :) Mustn't grumble for free. Does the navman work?
Tidy :) Mustn't grumble for free. Does the navman work?

Alternator belt is that shiny you can see your face in it so that'll be changed, wiper blades are FUBAR but meh dont need them until winter. Bonnet need replacing & ive gotta go to my local GM Dealer an get the keys cut so I can remove the roof rack (genuine GM locking rack to boot)

Couldnt find an allen key small enough to remove the standard Car2003 radio/cassette (think ive left the keys in the Nova) so a swift blow to the front with a claw hammer soon removed it :) happy days :)
Also been back to my dealer (yes bruv! Brap brap 2 ounce please!) about this roof rack key, basically the GM Dealer Security service melarky, i had to prove who i was  but meh.
Still no parts for me to pick but been assured end of week should see some parts for me :) win.
Done a bit more shopping on eBay this evening for some odds & ends to keep my hands busy for an evening or two.
Oh yes, that DeWalt charger i found when i opened the boot, tested it, put it on eBay, £20. Winner!
It's just a plastic piece with a hole in that's snapped clean off (the lower mounting hole) easily fixed with a piece of metal riveted to the ribbing. :)

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0987.jpg
Drivers door seal - awaiting fitting..
Fuel cap seal - broked it :( need to re-order
Fuel cap locking thing - superceded part number replaces the one i need, had to mod/chop it to fit :(
Key of life - no more vibrating roof rack at 85+
Window winder arm - doesnt come off in my hand anymore. Win.
Wiper twig - I can now see when the clouds fall!
Total cost £45 something.
If i can, tomorrow its order a new fuel cap seal (no.2) the four plastic caps for the gutter rails where the roof rack was fitted, steering coloumn shroud & probably some other tat that'll break come tomorrow morning.

FIX it, and **** it off, then buy a jap crap your really craving!
This is work hack/show mobile/daily driver in one Scott lol
But your right about the Jap cack :thumb: im getting a massive hankering for either a 106 GTi or EG Civic. I think its going to be the Civic purely because teh dollar is down of late so ebay.com is a good place to shop right now :thumb:
Well ive been mincing about again lol
Sunday just gone got down & dirty funking about with it again.... changed the torn drivers side window rubber, now i have a window that works :) picked up a new steering coloumn shroud from GM to the iffy looking one...
Removed the mirror caps & body coloured them, which turned into a mare :(
One was genuine, one wasnt. I plastic primered them then gave them a light coat of white.... the replica part reacted like a mofo!!
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0988.jpg
Hours & copias coats of primer mixed with shed laods of wet & dry later i got it something like.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_0989.jpg
Finished sunday evening off buy getting them both into Glacier White finish & fitted them Monday morning.
VXR stubby ariel arrived an was chucked on on Monday, today some wind deflectors arrived after a massive eBay debate (took 2 weeks to arrive yet paid for 2 day delivery?)
Got some ply lining done to the interior metal panels an thats about it really. Ill fire some pics up one day for those that give a monkeys lol
After spending an afternoon mincing with Diesels motors, i got down an dirty with Google an found a place called "TorqTec"
Chipset for this motor allegedly gives me +12bhp but +40lb/ft torque! So thats 170lb/ft according to there site?
Shall be calling them tomorrow me thinks.
Not read the whole thread, is it 1.3 or 1.7 Mike? CDTi or DTi?
1.7 Di lol
with a little extra "oomph" ;)
So no 't' in sight then :(

It is John, but for some strange reason its incredibly quick. On the way to Baxters today it was off the clock with a Golf GTDI behind me that simply couldnt overtake  i wasnt pulling away but he wasnt gaining like.

Last few weeks has been general mincing about, clocked up another 2k miles aswell :(
Ask no qeustions, tell no lies got me a facelift @rse end bumper in silver a couple of days ago. Got hold of r kid who works at Hydrex an got him to bring his works van round on Sunday, complete with a compressor, lent his spray gun to got jiggy with it....
Come monday midday when i was back from work it was time to start... with this...

aha Mike likes fudge :d
Last few weeks ive been a little busy mincing about at home doing things like this...so the motor has took a back seat.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1014.jpg
But ive had to get back on it as things started to break...
The bread mobil has some work, new GM battery, alternator & belt, had to change a FUBAR headlight which kept popping bulbs.... becuase of a fook of hole in the back of it...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1029.jpg
Picked up a cheap as chips spoiler of eBay a few weeks ago, got it painted & got it fitted today being as im at home.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1030.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1032.jpg
Then went on to debadge the boot, which leads me to a problem. Corsa's have a 3mm & 5mm hole hiding under the Griffin. Bugger.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1031.jpg

So thats a job to sort out another day as I really CBA due to epic sickness I've currently got :(
Once said holes are sorted & the facelift rear bumper is on, its colour code the grab handle an the rear end is finito.
the vans looking good mike doesn't take alot to make these corsa's look good
heres mine
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v631/6666666/the%20pearl/100_0972.jpg
Thats just what im after Mike^
The facelift front bumper & Irmscher lower thingy. I shall get on the case of that after before christmas, an itll give me something to do during the holidays :)
The price of the Irmscher grill's is a bit of a pish take though lol
they bloody are a pish take mate, but i forked out alot to get the bumper then the irmscher splitter and then the bumper smoothed so i thought i may aswell get one look abit daft with out it lol
Yea worth it when using a facelift front end really, tidys it up a treat i think.
Saying that though, all the Irmscher parts are silly pricy :( but i suppose what i saved on the facelift rear bumper will make up for paying thru the ass for the front end lol
Gave it some more TLC today...
Chucked an Opel Blitz badge on the boot to cover the two little holes, an fitted it out with a K&N panel filter as the OE filter is deathed up.
Whilst i had the airbox off i made swiss cheese of it, just because i could. And removed a little air restrictor thingy I discovered inside the airbox inlet.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1037.jpg

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1039.jpg
Result, boost a lot more argressive then it ever did & sounds a lot deeper. Well, for a diesel anyway.
Undecided on the boot badge, so might remove it for a Holden badge, or just flush the boot completely & remove these damn holes...

Have to have a look at it tomo, i say keep the blitz badge my self!

I struggle to fit a 600 kithen base unit in this van lol so you wont fit an uPVC windows in there lol lol
Altho i keep hearing good things about the Corsa C Combi's from the other traders on site? I can highly recommend T220 Transit Connects & VW T5 Transporters!

its not the fitting them mate its repearing them, espag's,muliti point locks, friction hings, keeps, gearboxes the list goes on with what can break on themlol
i drive a 09 plate long wheel base transit at the min but i wont be able to afford to run anything that size was thinking a combo van :thumb:
Ah so you will have heard of ERA locks then lol i done an apprenticeship on Modern Engineering, Steel Fabrication & Production Engineering with them many years ago lol
The Corsa C Combi's are fab little vans mate!! They have the same common problems as all the other Corsa C's Diesels thought. The alternator problem (which ive already had) & also the Fuel ECU (they have 2 ECU's), the fuel ECU is about a £400+vat fix if you buy a new one :(
Got a bit bored, very bored infact & couldnt think of fook all else to do other then go shopping for wine. Ended up coming home with these....
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/fli.jpg
FLI Integrator 6
6 inch ways, 70 watt RMS, 210 peak.
Got home, went to set about fitting them & ar kid called me up, hes some how managed to stack his FTO Mivec, slid it on ice into a kerb stone :S but there is no ice, anywhere? So ive been collared into changing a bottom arm & drop link instead of fitting my new toys.
Worst of all, I have no wine :( bugger.
ive always been a fan of the fli range. very good value imo

Just dont put the chav sticker on your window, as the locals will ravage it like the nova did! lol
Luke, £25 they were :) also found ive got wiring in the door for the tweeters fitted to better spec models so might re-run them into the rear an fit a couple of 6" speakers in the side lining panels lol lol
Scott, the FLI stickers are reet smart TBH, not something I;d want on the side of a van for obvious reasons as you mentioned.
Im now left with a pair of FLI speaker covers & some JBL speaker covers to flog on eBay to some random goon lol
Will get some pics later of my epic mincing today which turned into a mare :(
Todays audio filled installment.
Got busy with this earlier today...
Whipped the pass door card off, greeted with this :tard: some ones been here before me i see...old speaker out (which are ident to Corsa B door speakers BTW) an got the adapter in place (pictured)

Done the same again, 10 minute job done. Better sounds for £25 a half hour work. Result.
Pleased with them aswell, very pleased, just been round & about an gave them a rather good work out to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4iJ8aCH_oc). Top performance.
This is where the day went south tho, for some time now there been a minor water leakage into the drivers side footwell. As with most things, it gets bigger with age & is now Niagra falls.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1096.jpg
Off came the drivers side roof strip, screen edge trim, out came the water bottle, the wiper arms, the top scuttle panel section 1 & 2, the lower scuttle panel, wiper motor pump, heater blower thing an some other plastic panel that we'll call "WTF"....
I found these two holes in the shell & a gap in the shell seam were it looked liked it hadnt been welded together!! Water is running down the screen edge into the smallest hole, an water is dripping off the wiper linkage straight into the bigger hole...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1097.jpg
Silcone. Clear silicone & fcuk loads of it!! Temp fix ahoy!
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1098.jpg
Whilst i had the roof trims & screen edge out, cleared all the sheet outta there, cleaned the rubber screen seal, checked under the base of the windscreen for a good seal, all was gravy so put it back together safe in the knowledge that one day itll dry out :) well happy.
No. Bull**** & you know it is Mike.
What actually happened is my sister came home in her C, I wonder if her shell has the same holes?
Yes, it fcuking does & hers doesnt leak there, it leaks in the boot an rear cabin area instead.
All in all, smashed fcuk out my knuckles for 5 hours & achieved pretty much naff all.
Any one wanna buy it, I want an Astra Van instead.

No you doyle, the picture has been taken from the nearside looking at the bay, under where that headlight is sat is the wiper motor and the sheet is covering the screen, you can see the blower motor behind the light too......

Admittedly as soon as i saw his comment i had to look twice, that pic is kind of decieving,
mike, let us know how those speakers are, as my local halfords has them on clearance atm, was considering getting a set for the van,
Cheers.

lollollol My screen brightness and contrast is set low so I cant make out dark areas, if I have the screen much brighter it hurts my eyes :(

Well worth the £20 odd quid i paid for them chap. If you can get them for less then that id defiently suggest a pair of them.
Give it a wash for the first time since September yesterday, had a quick nosey again under the scuttle panels & i *think* it might be the brake servo to bulkhead seal thats perished & is letting water in.
Only way to find out is the mamoth task of taking out the dash, coloumn & servo to check it.
Never done that to a Corsa C before, so im sensing a whole load of fail already :(

aah your be ok mate... what could happen, lol,
think il get down an get some of those speakers when i can, although, i should find out why the speakers in the van arnt actually working... wish me luck lol...
Big time catastrophe :( engine let go this morning :(
fixable ?
or big hole in the block jobbie ?
Locked itself up :(
Thankfully, after 2 hours or so of mincing, ive found the problemo! Relativly simple fix that came in a preminition from the gods of automotive death lol
So whats up with it then bud?
So whats up with it then bud?
The alternator.
Its blew itself to bits proper bo shank, its bearings have made swiss cheese outta its internals & seized it up (could explain the nice cloud of electrical smelling smoke that came outta it)
Believe it or not, the way the belt is on these Y17 motors, it locks the engine up if the alternator seizes.
I started stripping the engine down, then had a massive preminition (im actually not joking here either!) an started tracing the belt round the motor.
Put a 19mm on the cam sprocket, would budge more then 5mm either way. Whipped the alternator belt & hey presto :) ended up doing the 1 foot skank round the driveway as ive now got a useful but semi fcuked £1k engine :) instead of a completley SNAFU one :d
Lmfao thats some good skills man, get yo ass to your local vaux dealers tonight with a hacksaw lol
Lmfao thats some good skills man, get yo ass to your local vaux dealers tonight with a hacksaw lol
I know how to open the bonnet on them from the outside lol an the lower spec models dont have alarm triggers under the bonnet either lol
So all in all this week, i seem to have cured my non working key fob & appear to have sorted water leak but have gained an engine failure of epic proportions.
Its now kinda half put back together, i got bored an left it.

lol your lucks almost as bad as mine!
And these newer (take that as post 95-98) engines suck, what the frigging deal with making ONE belt drive more then two things eh, hence when the fan belt eat it's self on my passat i lost power steering and the coolant pump stooped, so overheated!
Glad it's not as terminal as first thought though mate.
Scott
Scott, there sh1t mate. Really they are.
After spending nearly 7 hours today looking round a bang upto date modern day diesel engine, i really wish i still had that sack of cack Nova D van as I know that would run wether its broke or not!
As nice as modern cars are to drive, they suck the big donder tbh.
Couple of random pics before I got real messy black hands

Cool, dam them glow plugs are well long! lol
They get fcuking well hot too!
I was more amazed at the weirdness of the head & stupidly mahooosive thick cams lol
Last two day have been a Commercial vehicle mare
Was having a little mess about at some traffic lights, one thing lead to another & the airbag on our Connect decided it wanted to go off lol
Spent forever yesterday prodding to tiny little holes in the back of its steering wheel removing the airbag, also changed the wheel in it for a leather ST one :d
Alternator No.2 turned up yesterday eve aswell, so spent from 11.30am today until 5pm ish working on this sack of cack
Mare to change & route of all evil...
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1105.jpg
Anyway, got that on an the bloody thing wouldnt start! Bleed the fuel system & its still a no go (2pm by now) so cracked on changing the rocker gasket (paid for 1 but 2 turned up?) & glow plugs. Tried again, still wouldnt start, but noticed the glow plug light on the dash wasnt coming on?
Initial thoughs were the Fuel ECM was dead, called a man that can at Vauxhall & he came back with a price of £598 without VAT  thinking the ECM was dead i opened it up & its fooking amazing inside!! Wish id have got pics TBH as ive never seen anything like it!
Anyway, soon got bored & though ill refit the ECM to the car so its "safe & secure" an tried ignition on the off chance.
Fcuking thing only started perfectly :tard:
Only side effect is, the managment light wont go out & the engine fan is constantly on  will fix that another day tho.
Still havent fixed the EML/Engine fan problem lol so im off to my mate Martin at MBA Racing on Saturday to borrow his diagnostics machine :) should cure it. Hopefully.
Had these arrive:
SXi interior door release handles
SRi handbrake lever
Replaces the nasty tacky black ones a treat
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/100_1118.jpg

I really like the new stickers TBH. Was gonna put it on the top of the rear screen, but there over an inch of black on the glass edge so it wouldnt really be visible at all.
Found a bloke in Stafford breaking a Corsa C van on Thursday so paid him a visit on Friday an then again earlier today.
Picked up a clean & straight drivers side door for £35 complete with glass, door card, handle etc so hoping to eBay the non used parts on an make the door pay for itself. Stripped it down to a carcass...
Heavy duty new age GM security! Barrel mounted into a hefty metal plate!

Still looking for one myself.

Go on eBay an search Corsa van in "cars/automobils" how over priced!!
Ill be selling this one in September time when the insurance is up, want something slightly bigger/newer.
Cracked on with some remedial works this afternoon, changed a few popped bulbs (raided my stash of Nova bulbs lol) an finally got round to fitting the arm rest after getting dead arm from driving back from Lee's late last night.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j181/mikenova/The%20bread%20van/ABCD0007.jpg
Still not fitted the SRi handbrake lever....tis on the "to do" list...
And got jiggy with it earlier.
CBA with changing the entire handbrake lever for my SRi one, as i realised you can actually just remove the handle/grip part an swap them over :)

You can get universal ones yeah, but im sure Corsa B centre console are about an inch long lol so theres nothing to fit it too like?
They end at the back of the gear gaitor lol
Might have to drille through the chassis, really dont want to do that, i dont even have cup holders lol

In my old SR, doing some J Turns, went to do another & ripped the handbreak lever off its rachet mountings at 30 mph :(

Whilst i was under there poking around a realised the exhaust has rotted thru :( so made a quick call to a certain lady an got a new replica GM exhaust system arriving on Wednesday for £34 :) Result.
Mike, why dont you just stop fannying around and buy an already converted XE Nova, rag it around for a year, and then sell it. Its not as if its going to depreciate, you wont get fed up with building it because you wont have to build it and if you buy a ropey one and do it up, you might even make a few bob? :)
Im sorely tempted to buy K95 VHD but Id end up breaking it for a lot more then 3100 lol lol
I dont know Lee, ive been out an looked a fook loads of cars now (3 RX7's, 1 BMW 330 E46, 2 106 GTi's, a Cat D Astra Twin top, 2 Astra Coupe's, another MX5) an nothings really taking my fancy right now :(
nothings really taking my fancy right now :(
Thats the beauty of a pre converted XE. You know them, you wont need to spend months building it and get bored, and if you decide you cant be assed with it after a few months, you can sell it for the same as you bought it, or break it and make money. Show me a negative in that?? lol

even MORE mincing lol had both rear drums off today to sort out the error i made yesterday lol handbrake was pretty much permenantly on as i was hoping that id adjusted enough on the cable to not have to open up the drums an mess in there. I was mistaken :(
Probably a good thing tho, the rear shoes are paper thin & in dire need of replacements so ordered a set of them.
Shoes & exhaust are ready for collection tomorrow :) just leaves the indicator wiring problem & fuel temp sensor then its off for MOT/Tax

Picked my exhaust & rear shoes up on Wednesday night & got cracking with the back box Thursday afternoon.

There not perfect, far from it, but there only going on a bleeding van & are much better then the norm of Corsa C SRi rims (the chunky 5 spoke one, fetch 300+ a set :S - to many retarded college kids with credit cards on that CCUK site!)
Also got some more goodies coming for a reet steal so meh lol

Apparently lacquering polished rims is a no go mike, if you search my recent posts for "lacquer" you should find the thread I think. If not shout at me and I'll see if I can find it lol

You being properly for real Lee??
Yup. Give them a polish with some proper aluminium stuff, and then spread a very thin veneer of vaseline on.
Only downside is it picks up dirt a bit more obviously, but they wont tarnish :)
Oooh will have to try that one then :)
The spoked area will still be getting a treatment of lacquer tho, make it super duper shiny like. Just means ill have to wesh the van :( so it all looks clean :(
