Right first questions you got ask yourself, is why hasnt it got any MOT, as it is a lot more valuble with one and cheap to get, so why not spend ?30 on an MOT when adds ?200 value to car?

Another reason the guy might be intrested in selling it to you if he knows you live in Scotland.

You are legally allowed to drive a car without MOT if you are taking it to a test station and have an appointment so book it in at your local one, you wont be lying.

Tax is not a criminal offence it is a civil offence and can only be fined ?30 for the driving the car on the road by the police. (fixed penalty)

So make sure your insurance is vaild and away you go.

(also it is now impossible to tax a car if you do not recieve the log book as it takes about 8 weeks for a new issue and you cant just fill in the form in the post office, as of 01-02-03)

you can taxit if its not in your name tho as long as ou fill in the bottom part. the post office will then send it away for you.

Yes the new keepers part is still classed as the logbook as it is part 2/3 of the form. So if you have the logbook you can tax it if you dont you cant.
