View Full Version : C2VXL - Project.
Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Fling.
White 3 door.
H-Reg ’90, 48k Miles.
After searching for a while i eventually found a completely standard Mk1 Nova. The car had only covered 48k and been in the same family from new. After many conversations and numerous pictures of almost every part of the car, A price was agreed and had the car transported 500+ miles to me.
The bodywork is in good condition in all the important areas with some expected surface rust.

Loooks in cracking condition, would love a clean white mk1 myself, you don't hang arround do you, i hope your not throwing all that stuff away?
Cheers Nath.
Got a few bits still to take pictures of and stuff on order.
Ye was just going to chuck it all....unless anyone wants it, they can have it!
i like the idea so far mate looks a clean one aswell.
Cheers Ricky.
I'm using 'Trackdaynova's project thread as insperation.

very good thread to get inspiration from, i used it more than once to reclaim the nova bug. I'm sure someone will take some of the rubbish off your hands, people usually want things like the rear qauters that hold the parcel shelf up, have an ask round, as they don't make them any more obviousley and thats another set down the drain.
Ye i think i've read the thread about a 4 times over now.
Well i keep an eye out on the 'Wanted' forum.
I kinda felt guilty for the first day or so pulling apart a perfectly good car.

How come you broke your old nova? Wasn't it a white mk1 with skinny front bumper and intercooler sat infront of the lower panel?

Can't quite put my finger on your corsa, not sure if I ever saw it tbh.
Mine went as it had served a purpose really. I love trackdays more than shows and it was too good to drive hard on track in fear of bending it so it was time to sell. Got a really good price on and now I'm building a bonkers trackcar :D looks like you've done the same.
that corsa seems far to good to scrap whats up with it?

agrred, whats up with the corsa?
Simps - That is exactly my thinking. Want to build a track car that if it ends up in a field i'm not going to be stressing about scratches and dings.
The reason the corsa is being scrapped as i'm done with it. I've stripped the bits that i can sell - can't really be arsed trying to sell the shell on.
thats a real shame it looks smart.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not exactly over the moon about scrapping it but just want to get started on the nova as soon as.....
I looked at that shell.
It was "ok" had bits and bob's of welding that had been done, and needed doing. You pay £500 for it? Thats what he was after. Them doors were minted though!!!
I like the plans though!
He carried out a bit of welding however my mate is re-doing it when he welds in the cage etc...other than that it's a really good shell.
Cheers.
looks like a pretty good base and excellent car to take inspiration from

lol Cheers bud.
Any news on what's happening with you know what:roll:
Owen.:thumb:
Good welding there but them bushes in the bottom arms are going to be fooked now with all that heat, should be a good one this
Nice welding, i'd have welded around the gear box mount more tho.. Its only spot welded on and the seams on the cross member..
Cheers guys.
As for the bushes - your right they'll be pooped but they are just the standard ones. To be replaced with poly ones.
Hi Benn - Welding isn't finished yet. I left my mate to it so he's doing bits when he gets a chance.
The plates that go here and on the opposite side
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e150/C2VXL_/035.jpg
I take it you bold it up, weld it on then drill down through the existing holes in the cross member so the ARB bolts can be refitted. Does that make sense?
It's just i offered the plates up and the holes didn't match, however did possibly think that the holes that already existed in the plates were like those on the others.
Ah cool cool, was just checking really.
Do the plates on the cross member not already have holes in them?
Yes they do but they don't line up with the holes in the cross member. I'll tske pictures so you can see.
Looks a good shell you have there, crossmember etc looks mint in the pics. :) If you haven't welded it in already, I'd weld on spreader plates before the rear strut brace. There's a couple of pics of fitting box section for seat rails in my WIP too if it helps

Was going to but thought it would get to a point where it would do more harm than good...making the shell too rigid?

Loving the blue cage :) I wanted to do my cage blue but thought it would look to much like C20 TBO lol There cant be two white mk1's with blue cages in Aberdeen lol
Nice work on the shell too.
To be fair i never see that Nova. Not sure what condition it is in now. Last time i spoke to the builder (bob), he said he was wanting it back?

Last i heard he was building a cosworth powered 106? When Mitsu had it after Bob it was still very very clean. He then sold it, havnt seen it much since but ive heard its starting to look a bit tired. Dont quote me on that, its just what ive heard.
It passed my workmate on the Ellon road a few weeks ago so its out and about again :)
